Buhner's protocols - questions? Rowingmom?

I have been on JK, CC, and have recently added Sida Acuta and Cryptolepis. It is suspected I have Lyme and Bart. (not Babesia...but my LLND wants me to take crypto anyway)

I am waiting for the Woodland Essence Houttynia tincture.

On his website, Buhner's protocol for Bartonella - I believe it says to take the Sida Acuta for 30 days. If my symptoms aren't gone...how long can I stay on it? Why does he say 30 days only?

Also, his protocol has EGCG ( think it's Green tea extract). I haven't seen this one mentioned on the forum.
Is it just an antioxidant...or does have other beneficial properties?

And, finally, should I take the Hawthorne, even if I don't have any heart issues?
I'm already finding it difficult to take everything on top of the antibiotics, and the probiotics, the vits, minerals, and the buhner protocol, plus the burbur, pinella....
There doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day to take all this without taking so many things at the same time.

In talking with Buhner's associate, Julie, I was told that we could take low doses of the herbs in the protocols for indefinite periods. We have never gone full out, trying to hit our infections quickly over the short term.

We are taking 1/4 of Buhner's recommended dosages of herbs in both the FULL bartonella and babesia protocols. Anything more made herxing unacceptable.

We have been using the bartonella protocol since April 2013 and the babesia protocol since Nov 2013.

I found that as I added babesia herbs to the bartonella protocol, the amount of sida we were using could actually be decreased. When on the bart protocol only, we were taking 15 drops 3x daily of sida acuta tincture.

Now, after having added in CSA (combination tincture of cryptolepis, sida, alchornea), I find that we are only using 5 drops of the sida tincture daily (at 3 pm), the rest of the sida we are getting from combo CSA (15 drops 2x daily - 8 am and 9 pm) - which puts us at only 15 drops of sida for the entire day.

EGCG is a green tea extract. I don't use this supplement, but we do drink 2-3 cups of organic green tea (not sourced from China) daily. I send it with our daughter to drink at school.

Hawthorne is protective of endothelial tissue (which includes the lining of the heart and all blood vessels). Because bartonella (and babesia) effect the endothelium significantly, Buhner recommends this herb. This is all completely explained in his coinfection book.

If you are following Buhner's protocols, I would highly recommend that you purchase and read the coinfections (mycoplasma and bartonella) and new herbal antimicrobials for resistant bacterial infections books. These 2 books cover all the herbs used in the bartonella and babesia protocols, including cryptolepis. The babesia/ehrlichia coinfections book should be out by next spring.

As MisterMike says, you don't have to try to separate doses of the various herbs in Buhner's protocols. I make tea from the powdered herbs, add the tinctures and down it all.

"I am about half way through the second Lyme coinfections book, which is due to be sent to the publisher for editing in April sometime. It is scheduled for release in spring of 2015. This one covers babesia, ehrlichia, and anaplasma. It will be very similar to the first coinfection book in layout and probably as long.

Once the second coinfection book is finished, I will finally update the Lyme book itself. These two coinfection books were intended to be part of the Lyme book update but just got out of hand; the infections needed books of their own not a chapter in the Lyme book. Mister Mike, Have you heard that Zeolite contains aluminum? I don't know if that's true or not.

I don't think Margaret was meaning to dismiss Buhner...she just likes to joke now and then.
