I've been on oral antibiotics for 3 months now. Started off with omnicef and Zithromax...now I'm in omnicef and rafampin. Western blot came back positive for IGG and bartonela IGM was very close to positive with 2 bands that were IND.

Anyway,I have 2 symptoms that come and go that I never hear anyone talking about. I have a this sour/funky taster in my mouth and my mouth, nose and tongue get very dry. And on top of that my jaw/cheek bones get very sore. It feels like I should be talking by moving my jaw less and my tongue gets strange spots where it feels like it was burned so it feels a littl numb'ish and my throat and tongue sometimes feel swollen so my tongue gets less nimble or something and it feels like I have trouble pronouncing certain words.

Anyone else have these kind of symptoms or heard of these symptoms with someone else?

I definitely had the numb tongue thing. I noticed it back in May and was diagnosed with Lyme in August. It was actually one of the first symptoms to resolve itself after starting antibiotics.

After it was better, my friends and coworkers told me that I had a lisp for years, but they noticed it was gone!!

As for the foul taste, I have that as well. I get super dry eyes, nose and mouth. I have Babesia, and I think it might be related to that, as sometimes my Babesia sweats smell sour as well. Isn't it fun?!

I definitely have the sore cheek bones and jaw bones soreness. Today my right cheek bones is so painful...

I also have that funky taste in my mouth/dry mouth but I assumed that was a med side effect, since most meds can cause that. I know they make a mouth wash just for that, I keep meaning to pick it up but I haven't. I also have chronic sinusitis, so I often wake up breathing with my mouth open, which can cause that taste and dry mouth. It can also cause the cheek bone soreness, but I never really ever had that before the lyme.

First of all we have to realize that it's winter and everyone, every building has heat on - this dries out the mucous membranes - things like eyes, nose and mouth. But Lyme can add to this. Be sure that you are drinking plenty of water and you can use eye drops and saline nasal drops or a netty pot to help with this. If it's due to the winter weather and everyone using heat, you can also set up a humidifier at home to help.

Be sure you aren't clenching or grinding your teeth. My jaw muscles used to get so danged sore!! Peppermint oil will help relax them - just rub a bit on and don't forget to put some on the area right above the ear, but below the temple.

Those little spots on your tongue could be candida. You can find all kinds of pictures of this online.
