mycoplasma pneumoniae Igg??

I was able to a a LLMD last week and had blood work done. She checked me for Lyme again and co infections and I just got an email from labcorp with my results.
The only thing that did not come back "normal" or "negative" is my 201 "high" level of mycoplasma pneumoniae Igg.

Any idea what that is?? Is it related to Lyme? Is it something to be concerned about?

I don't see the doctor until the end of the first week of March and she told me her office does not discuss lab results over the phone, but that we would go over any results when I came for the follow-up...

It is probably the mycoplasma infection that is suppressing your immune system so that your test results for Lyme have come up negative. As I understand it, LLMDs address the mycoplasma first, before going after Lyme and co-infections. You can find out more by using the search function in the upper right of this forum. Many of our members have had this.

It does seem that many members had/have it. Based upon the link, I suspect many of us were exposed but didn't necessarily develop it....

IGg represents an older infection and not necessarily an active one.

The majority of adult Americans test positive for M pneumonia exposure. In many cases this is not an important finding. The tricky part is that people with compromised immune function can suffer or die from it. It's particularly nasty when an AIDS patient gets it.

Check with your LLMD as to how important this result is. I don't remember the reference range for M pneumonia but it's encouraging that you didn't have a fierce IGM result to go along with the IGG. That would be an immediate red flag. In the mean time, stick with your treatment plan. It's not a finding that requires an immediate response.

I have a positive Igg and my LLMD after ten months of treatment is suggesting treating with Minocycline. Like others have said it's not an active infection but at some point we were exposed to it. I don't even recall having it so that's that. I don't think it is an urgent thing but def something to make sure you point out to your LLMD.
