Dark spots under nails?

I've noticed there are black marks under the nails of my middle fingers and I'm concerned about what they could be. They look like little black splinters. When you do a google search it comes up with information indicating that it could be skin cancer, a B12 deficiency (which I do have) or...I forget the last one.

I'm just wondering if it could possibly be from Lyme & Co. Please let me know if you have it and what you think or know it is from.

I don't even know what doctor to go to about this.

I get those occasionally, too. They grow out with the nails, and once they are above the nail bed, they go away when I clean under my nails. The color reminds me of when I once injured my finger and had some bleeding under the nail. I have petechia rash (like little tiny blood blisters) all over my arms, and always figured the spots under my nails were related.

Thanks Nosila. I guess that's possible. I do have little red dots practically everywhere. I think I read that it could be Babesia.

melanoma of the nail bed is pretty rare, if you meant the skin under your nails. It could be a benign issue, you might want to bring it up with a dermatologist, if you feel the need to.

I have low B12 and don't have any dark spots, for what it's worth.

I used to get those. I searched on the university of google and it said they may be related to heart issues. i did have palpitations, tachycardia/POTs.

The splinters went away and then came back in late pregnancy. Not sure if it actually is related to the heart or not!

Hmmm, very interesting. I really would like to know what they mean. My dad has heart issues and I've been tested and cleared, but with Lyme & Co's you never know.

I sent a message to Dr. Cowden asking about the dark spots under my nails since I'm on his protocol. To my surprise he replied. He said the dark spots are tiny blood clots in the heart or arteries. He recommended increasing Serrapeptase to 2 or 3 capsules 30 minutes before food twice daily. He said to continue for 1-2 months.

This really concerns me. I'll start to increase Serrapeptase today and pray for the best!

Also, microhemorrhages and hemosiderin deposition under the nails in small spots occurs frequently in people with Raynaud's and other peripheral vascular issues... like guess what?

They should predictably lessen as overall vascular healing occurs. Remember, Lyme&Co is a disease of inflammation, and inflamed capillaries rupture easily.
