last year, in January, I was supposed to go skiing with my hubby in PA at Camelback MT. This was right before I took a dive down and got extremely sick. I was already not feeling well - had fatigue, joint aches, conjunctivitis, flu-like symptoms.... It was my Bday weekend and we had gone up to PA. My bday present was supposed to be a ski date with my hubby! Well, that surely didn't happen because I was all "messed up" but didn't know why. I will never forget the fear within me. I had just taken a blood test to rule out Mononucleosis (Bc my lyme tests had already come back negative). My entire arm was black and blue from the test. I was seriously freaked out. When the Dr called to say I didn't have mono, I burst into tears. I wanted it to be Something! If it was mono, then at least I would have had an explanation of what was going on inside of me. I refused to accept fibromyalgia or post viral syndrome as diagnoses.
well, just a little over a year later, as I say I beat lyme - I got on the slopes and skied for 4 hrs yesterday!! It was SO exhilarating. All I could think about as I went down was how strong my legs felt. When I was sick with lyme, I could barely walk straight because my legs became so weak. I never thought I would be this strong again. when I had lyme, I felt defeated and feared the worst. Well, those days are over folks - I am writing this to give you all hope, that it IS achievable!! I skied the mts and felt the wind hit my face, and was able to push my poles into the snow to move about, I do admit my arms are still weaker than they were, but with exercise they will get even better and stronger than before I was sick!! I will make that a promise to myself. And today I was able to get out of bed, and get my kids to school, with just general and normal muscle soreness.
just wanted to share the good news of this milestone!! =)
