Herbal Remedies

Hi everyone.

I'm relatively new to the forum - I've posted my story already in another thread. But basically to summarise, I think I have Lyme disease. (haha, what an ice breaker)

My symptoms are as follows:

Limbs don't feel like mine, when having the heart pain

Feels like carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrists sometimes


Now experiencing slight light flashes and disturbances, can't judge things anymore.
Seeing flashing lights in peripheral vision. Tracers. Numbness in arms.

Cold and warm sweats

Brain fog, short term memory bad

Massive mood swings, anxiety and depression

Sugar craving

Often get a pain just below left rib

Even teeth pain sometimes
Super sensitive to fluorescent light. Makes me feel sick. Increased motion sickness

My discharge was bright green. (Co infection)

Low grade fever

All joints crack regularly. Feel almost burnt. The muscles/bone up my arm ache too. Migratory joint pain.

Chest discomfort.

Limbs don't feel like mine.

Muscles spasm and twitch regularly. Fascilations.

Tingly pins and needles. Bottom of feet, pain. Feet feel cold when there's no reason.

Fuzzy sensation at back of head top of neck, like the nerves are really excited. Neck almost trembles. When nerve twangy I compulsively move my head. Ringing in ears accompany this. Often get relieve from supporting the neck or arching forward. Feels seizury. Happens later on in the day. Almost feel my brain moving around. Whooshing sensation in my head. Vertigo.

Tender spots on head

Increased sensitivity to touch. Hurts even when it shouldn't.

Stuttering and slurring my words. Slight confusion.

Face pain?

Jaw pain
Notice tiny purple blood blisters on my hands. Veins in general seem more pronounced. Fluid retention in hands.

I did have swollen glands 

Insomnia, sleep in til the afternoon.

General headaches.

Heart palpitations out of nowhere. So much so I've rang the emergency services and had ecg 's done. All have been fine.

Smelling things that aren't there

Random numb limbs

Feel like I'm overreacting to stimuli.

Burning sensation on skin, sometimes feels cold and wet.

Muscle cramps. Breathless out if nowhere.

Sharp pain in tips of fingers, all over
Nausea.
Have had vertigo wake me up before.
Constantly dizzy.

Pain in feet, toe joints, knee joints, particularly right side but now left too, rib pain, chest pain, hip pain, Upper back pain, neck pain. All pain switches around, rarely felt all at once. Not usually long lasting.

Rib pain, aches.

Feel my heart beating irregularly St times. Chest pain and Nausea simultaneously

Felt as if I've had seizure episodes, where I drop out for a moment and my muscles jerk. Sudden neck movements give me vertigo.

Symptoms come and go.

Quite a list, right? I can explain the progression of them/details around my story if needed for clarification. I've already had contact with the lovely and tremendously helpful Traveler - but I suppose I'd thought I'd ask the rest of the experts too.

If this is lyme, and it does seem like it, is there likely to be coinfections swimming around in there too? If so, will I have to make ammendments to any protocol I choose?

Leading on from that, are there any herbal protocols anyone can recommend? How slow should I go to reduce the risk of herxing? I've been drinking milk thistle tea and vitamin c tablets to detox my poor bod before proper treatment.

Obviously it complicates things when I'm unsure of the diagnosis, and whether or not there are any existing co-infections, although I'm sure there will be with that list. I don't know if I posted this in my original post but I also get air hunger - this is happening more now.

I live in the UK, near Newcastle Upon Tyne to be exact -- a LLMD would be very helpful. I'm going to see an infectious diseases doctor on Tuesday but apparently they aren't too great. I know that a lot of you are from the states, and so it may be a bit difficult for you to suggest an LLMD. Of course, if you can help, that'd be great!

In addition to Cowden and Buhner protocol, you may want to take a look at Dr. Klinghardt's protocol. If you go on youtube and search his name, you will find a lot of his conferences. He had Lyme and treats patients with Lyme. You can find his protocol in writing and lots of his research on his website, google Klinghardt academy.

Even if you don't follow his protocol, I think you will like his recommanded herbs and you can see if you can get some of the products in UK, as he is working with a complany that sells the products in Europe. I just buy from different sources because the products that Dr. K is using are very expensive but they do work, as far as the ones I have tried.

I've had lyme with bartonella-like and babesia-like infection for 5 years. Outside of dying, few people have related to me as worse syptoms and duration/severity of the disease as I have had. I'm telling you this so you have confidence in what I'm saying next.....The Cowden Protocol is by far the best and most likely chance of beating lyme I have ever encountered. When you figure cost and ease of availability of obtaining the medicine, it's a no brainer. You can get the herbs through Amazon or the www.nutramedix.com website. The protocol rotates the medicine every two weeks for a very broad spectrum approach. It almost doesn't matter which co-infections you have, it will likely take care of almost all them. I couldn't believe at first that herbs were better than antibiotics for such an infection but I'm a believer now.

Buhner's protocol did help me to an extent. It's just that Cowden's finished everything off. Buhner's protocol helped me determine what was working, what wasn't, what I probably had and didn't have, etc. If you don't have the results from Buhner you desire after awhile, you can always switch at anytime. Both Cowden and Buhner rely on Samento as the main lyme-killing herb. Also Sida Acuta did work! I'm just saying that Cowden seems to be much more comprehensive for the wide variety of symptoms I was having. The main source of confusion regarding lyme and associated tick diseases is that many of us really don't know what else we have from the tick. Lyme is obvious, but the other stuff is complicated and confusing because tests are very inadequate and symptoms are not distinct enough at times to tell the difference. You just have to follow the protocols for a few months to determine what is working, what isn't. Don't get discouraged. Lyme is curable, even after years of infection. And, again, Buhner and Cowden are superior to pharmaceutical antibiotics anyday.

These are very good replies. I too have taken the Buhner
herbs as well as Nutramedix. I preferred Buhner's, but they're both
good. I see that you've ordered some off of Amazon.
If it were me, I think I'd wait to find a doctor
a LLMD as people say is very important, and get tested
first. If you start taking the herbs first, it may throw off the tests,
but I could be off on this. Also, some doctors like to treat patients
in a certain order. Sometimes you may have heavy metals or
detox programs they like you to follow. Sometimes they like to
see how well your body can detoxify the die-offs and give you the
right herbs to take for this. Everyone's system is different. That's
been my experience. Good doctors can usually tell which
co-infections you're dealing with. So. I wanted to offer up
this 'piece of the Lyme puzzle'. Hope all goes well.

The antibiotics I took were- nitrofurantoin, trimethoprim, amoxicillin, and co-amoxiclav.
The nitrofurantoin gave me stabbing sensations everywhere, the trimethoprim muffled my hearing and made me nauseous, the amoxicillin made me feel miraculously better for a day but then gave me a strange feeling in the back of my head, the co-amoxiclav gave me seizurey type episodes.

I've experienced these all since. Could I have had lyme and not even known about it?

Oh I know! Traveler has given me fair warning about the ID. But I think because I have the appointment anyway (free on the NHS) I'll go and have him run tests for a few things, just to make sure. If it does turn out to be lyme, I have the protocol in the post and that should be here fairly soon.

Did you ever get joint pain in the wrist/elbow/fingers? It seems uncommon with lyme. Also, the sun sensitive face rash?

Simela, I've been talking with Beefany. I'm the one that suggested Buhner's to them to get started as there are concerns about another possible condition and without access to a LLMD, it's a guessing game sometimes as you know. I encouraged them to post on the forum for more opinions.

From all the pain I had to endure, finger pain was the worst and it got to the point that I could not open doors at times or pick up my baby or hold her--she was a newborn and I am a very strong woman--I could easily lift 100 lb prior to the infection! I felt like all my fingers were crashed. Not sure if it was caused by barto or lyme.

My youngest daughter is the only one in the house that complains of rib pain (among other things) almost every day. Again not sure if it is caused by barto or lyme, but she was bit by a tick in fall 2014.

Also, which is the co-infections that leaves scratch marks on you for short periods of time? It may be just my imagination but I feel like I've seen some.

What's the general consensus on the supplement Vitamin B complex? I know it contains magnesium and Healing98, I think you suggested that for heart issues.


I've just taken one now because, often when I don't go to sleep on time I get heart palpations, often feel difficult to describe. Like there's an absence in my chest and it's just fluttering away, often makes my leg spasm too. So anyway, I've taken a B vitamin complex as I happened to have some lying around. Hoping this will help me sleep.
