Hi, haven't been here in a while, sorry. I have a lot of catching up to do on how everyone is doing.
I kind of withdrew a bit - so sick of reading, researching, worrying, thinking, constantly, non stop about
lyme, lyme, lyme!! :-(. Needed to stick my head in the sand for a bit ;-).
I've had a couple of treatment reviews this year and still don't know if I'm doing the right thing. For those who don't know, I've been in treatment for around 18 months now - IV ceftiaxone, followed by cefuroxime, then doxycycline, then claithromycin, then clarithromycin + amoxicillin + tinidazole, then herbals for the last 4 or 5 months . . . and still I have dizzy, lightheadedness, tingling, numbness in hands, forearms, shins . . . :-(
I have just started a new treatment plan of minocycline and rifampicin, mainly because lots of people have suggested that my problem could be bartonella - pretty much all of my symptoms have been neurological.
I am just so desperate for this to work. I felt I made some progress on the tinidazole, but I only had that for 3 months, then went onto herbals.
Does anyone have any success stories with mino + rifampicin? Especially for neuro symptoms? Are there any side effects I should be anticipating? I don't seem to herx that much on anything, although I had headaches & grogginess on the tinidazole.
Sorry. Just needing to run this all past someone I think, and needing some reassurance and encouragement . . . :-(

Good combo for Bart, but add Plaquenil This combo got me from 50% to 80% well in 4 months, after treating for three years prior on orals and IV Rocephin combos prior. I was also taking Cat's Claw and Jap knotweed at same time
Still in treatment.... but at 90% may be as good as it gets.

Thanks tickbite, that sounds reasonably positive then. Dont know anything about
plaquenil but just having to go with what my LLMD has prescribed at the mo :-/ . . . will bear it in mind though. Ditto the cats claw & JK. Thanks for your reply

This will bump the thread up at least....to give others a chance to comment.

I've seen really good results on a rifampin & minocycline combo. I've been treating for Lyme and Bart for 8 months and have been on it the whole time. My doctor tried to switch it up after 4 months but ended up putting me back on the rifampin due to an allergy.
I'd say I've gotten to about
95% better now on the combo so it has worked very well! It did take some time though. It's really helped my anxiety, fatigue, headaches, GI problems, shooting pains, chest pain, and insomnia. I haven't had most of the symptoms you still have though, so I can't really speak to how it will work for some of those neurological problems.
I hope it works well for you!

Hiker, did you have a herx reaction while treating Bart, or just gradually get better?

Thanks for bumping girlie . . .
Hiker, that's great that you had such good results on this combo. Hope it does work as well on neuro symptoms, as nearly all my problems are neuro. And yes, how long before you had a noticeable improvement, and did you herx on the treatment? I don't real good at the mo - increased tingling & dizziness, & I'm wondering if the drugs are stirring up some bartonella bugs??
