Well, yes, one of the symptoms of Lyme is neck pain (it gets better once you can crack it). And the brain swelling is also a symptom and there are no words for it. And the thing of it is -- this is, in fact, meningitis and encephalitis. They are just the words describing brain swelling and swelling of the dura around the brain.
You might be scared of the word meningitis, because you have heard of bacterial or viral meningitis, which is very dangerous. The meningitis associated with Lyme is aseptic (not infectious), which means it is just super, super painful.
You can have these as symptoms and also as the increase in symptoms associated with treatment. It is fabulously uncomfortable and very hard to cope with. However, the good news is that all of this will be resolved with treatment. Yes, all of this will go away.
