My 7yo daughter was on abx last year for 4 mos (amox + azith). She got a stomach virus and we took her off abx to give her gut a rest. She is on Byron Whites A-L Complex (5 drops once a day right now).
She's always had sensitivities. She wore the same princess dress everyday for a long time as a toddler, went through a no underwear phase, is very picky with shoes, will not wear socks, and has been wearing the same thread worn pants for the past month. I give her lots of leeway because I know these are real things and not a power struggle.
Over the past few weeks she has complained of not liking when we kiss her. Now it's become much worse, and she doesn't want to be touched, kissed, or even hear the sound of a kiss. She will "freak out" as she calls it. Her ears have been feeling "weird", and she has complained of her feet feeling dry and has to put lotion on them. I talked with her about
her sensitivities and she said it just feels "weird" when we touch her.
Has anyone experienced this themselves or their children? I hate to put her back on abx, but these symptoms make me think that Lyme or a co infection is to blame.
Thanks in advance for your support and insight!

My grandson had these same symptoms with touch and sensitivity to clothes. He mostly preferred to be naked and wear a soft blanket. We weren't allowed to touch him and he was very, very sensitive with noise.
He had had 4 months of amoxycillin but he didn't do well on it, he could barely keep it down. So we did a course of the Cowden protocol and it worked very well. He now wears clothes, though still doesn't care for underwear and will go barefoot whenever possible (not sure if this is an unresolved symptom or a personal preference).
He is very affectionate and cuddly again and is able to withstand noise -- even a Chucky Cheese birthday party! The noise sensitivity was the last symptom to be resolved.
I believe the detoxing aspect of the Cowden protocol really helped him.

Thank you for your reply. Itt can be difficult to separate symptoms from phases and preferences. But my gut says this is Lyme related. It's helpful to hear others experiences and successes.
I'm so happy for your grandson's recovery! I'm looking forward to healing our daughter and seeing her smile and snuggling with her again. :). We haven't tried the Cowden protocol, I will look into it.

I think you are absolutely right. Trust your gut. You know your daughter best.
Hope she gets well soon. Keep us posted!

Our daughter's sensitivities to light, sound and touch all resolved with bartonella treatment. She suffered from them pretty much from birth.

I was thinking Bartonella as well as I read your post. That's what did those things to me and they didn't resolve until I detoxed a ton and got effective treatments.
I went through a time where I couldn't have anything touching my skin - no clothing, no sheets. Sitting and laying down were an exercise in patients and perseverance - but I couldn't stand for long either because of the pain in my feet/legs.
What do you have her doing for detoxing? Are there plans for Bartonella treatment for her?
And you don't really need to put her back on abx if you aren't comfortable doing so. The natural protocols (Like the Byron White formulas and others) work very well. I healed from 40+ year old Lyme, Bart and other infections using nothing but natural protocols

We've only been treating for Lyme, but I have wondered about
Bart. Happy to hear your success with herbals. I don't want her back on abx - it will probably be our naturopaths first suggestion.
She isn't detoxing much. We were doing baths but have slowed down to see where we are - now I need to get more serious about
that. We were supposed to start NAC for her but didn't. I'm on Vital Nutrients Detox Formula. What sorts of detox have you done or would you suggest?
Thanks again!

Our daughter uses methylated versions of B vitamins (Swanson Ultra Activated B-Complex) as well as sublingual methylB every other day. I find this dose is good, and hope that her diet provides anything more that is needed. Overmethylation can be as bad as undermethylation.
Susi Only Minerals chelated mineral supplement.
600 mg magnesium citrate daily with 300 mg of it at bedtime.
Lemon juice with stevia in water daily.
Epsom salt baths whenever she bathes.
Near-ir sauna before every bath.
2 tsp Diatomaceous earth daily.
1 tsp organic Psyllium husk (is not sprayed with glyphosate before harvest) daily.
NAC and l-glutamine every other day to help with endogenous production of glutathione. While she was sick and being treated with abx for bartonella the LLMD prescribed liposomal glutathione. I supplement gelatin into many of the meals I prepare for glycine (also need for glutathione production).

Sensory issues in children can be a symptom of Lyme.

My daughter was extremely hypersensitive to touch as well. Here is a long blog in which i described her situation, and what I did to successfully solve the problem. I will be happy to discuss the issue at further length if you have any questions. It is late and I am tired from clearing brush from my mother's hilly property!

One of the number 1 symptoms of Lyme in horses is hypersensitivity to touch.
That is interesting, thank you.

That is interesting as the vet's all claim that the main issue with animals when they get Lyme is arthritis type conditions.
Thanks, Sayyadina!
