tesss,
As far as the anti-depressants go you have to be very careful. First, three different anti-depressants sounds like a lot. It does depend on the particular ones you are taking and how long they persist in the body. It is not unusual for a medication to stay in the body for more than a month. Some drugs need to be taken for a few months until the "right" amount gets in your blood stream to so the job.
I've had an allergic reaction a month after I took a new drug. I'm also taking a medication now that doesn't have any effect for 3 months. My doc said that I had to take it every day and be willing to wait 3 months to see if it helped.
The most important thing though is are you taking anything else, either prescript
ion or over the counter. People don't realize that there are herbs and over the counter products that also have antidepressant effect.
There is something called Serotonin Syndrome it happens when you take too much serotonin and it can come from too much of one med or a combination of meds. Meds include pharmaceuticals and herbals. Just because it is "natural" doesn't mean it ok.
What concerns me is that many of the symptoms you describe are also symptoms of Serotonin Syndrome. I'm not saying its not Lyme. I'm saying since you were on 3 antidepressants, you need to check for interactions. Drs rarely know all the interactions. Pharmacists tend to know more, but nothing beats the computer programs. They are thorough and don't forget. Just be aware that some interactions are ok, they are just warnings. You need to know what your meds do so that you know which interactions are ok.
First thing to do, is go to webmd or drugs.com an use the drug interaction checker. IF you have multiple that contain or produce serotonin, call your doctor.
In one of the support groups that I belong(ed) to for Fibromyalgia, a common idiom that was used was "Fibromyalgia is not everything and everything is not Fibromyalgia." There was a woman who complained of "chest" pain. I know I have had pain everywhere, including my sternum. Before anyone could warn her about
the chest pain, she died of a heart attack. I'm not trying to scare anyone, it's just that we all tend to get wrapped up in our diagnosis and forget that there are other illnesses.
Another question that I would ask is has your doctor run tests for other things, like autoimmune diseases. I am not trying to steer you away from Lyme it's just that there are many other things your symptoms could be. I find the numbness in the face concerning, but it's possible that it is Bells Palsy (a Lyme symptom). But don't leave any stone unturned. That's the way most people on this site for every condition eventually find their answers.
Good Luck, Kim
