It's finally happened - my hubby's infected too.

Hi all,
I just posted that my hubby is infected to try to help another member, and I thought maybe it would be best for me to start another thread about this, because I surely don't want to take away from this other thread. I feel it's very important for this other member to get as much help as possible.

Soooooo, he finally admitted to me last night that he was feeling really horrible the last week and a half. No surprise to me, I live with him!! LOL! He's been cranky, nauseous, and has had migraines that the migraine meds can't seem to touch, neck aches, and he has a really bad back (bone to bone in three places, severe spinal stenosis, and arthritis) and of course, that has been hit pretty hard as well. He said it felt like he has more inflammation than is right for any person to have as well - boy don't most of us know what that feels like.

I seriously doubt that he was infected by me, as we have been married for just over 15 years now, and this is the first time he's shown these symptoms. Ticks never used to hardly every bite him, but in the last two weeks, he's getting several a day and I've been getting none, so I figure he's likely been infected for a month or less.

He's also recently been under a tremendous amount of stress, as his very best friend had his 2nd and 3rd abdominal aortic aneurism 3 months ago. The friend survived, just barely, but lost the function of one kidney and almost lost his toe due to a random blood clot that got loose and lodged in his toe. He's made 2 trips (600 miles round trip) to see him and wants to make another one soon.

There are NO LLMD's (not even "Lyme friendly" docs other than the one he sees) in my state, and I don't know that my hubby is up for the 7 hour drive each way to get to the closest one, so I'm trying my best to bargain with his doc, but I doubt that it will work.

So far, we were able to get him on 200 mgs of Doxy a day (yes, I know, I know!!!) for 2 weeks. IF his test comes back positive for Lyme, we were told he could get another 2 weeks of 400 mgs of Doxy and that's all. This is a Nurse Practitioner that has to answer to another doc, so she's not willing to risk her job and hubby likes her really well for all his other issues, so I have to be very careful here.

I did get to go ahead to start him on astragalus, but he's on warfarin and everything has to be added in only one thing at a time and no more than one new thing each week so he can check his blood and make sure that it's not having too big of an impact on his PT/INR(blood clotting ability). So we will move slowly with all things.

I might even be able to get him to agree to use the Chronic Tonic like I did if he isn't any better by the end of the abx use, or if he relapses - but that has to wait. He's on board for me to use herbs - he even wants me to go back to school to be an Herbalist now, but he would rather use the abx, and I"m okay with that. I just want my honey to heal.

Boy, this has been a stressful year for us already!!

Ahhh yes. you're always welcome! So far, I've seen no ticks in my neighborhood. And most of the flies don't bite. But I do get infested w/ black and brown widows. I hope it's a mild summer out here because I don't have A/C. But the jasmine I planted a couple of yrs ago has bloomed like crazy this year and wafts in through the front door, puts me in a good mood.

I guess now more than ever is a good time to start a "spousal" or partner section on the forum!

NOOOO!!! I'm so sorry Traveler! You have had more than your share of difficulties. You're a very strong person. I have the utmost confidence that he will get through this with your expertise, wisdom, guidance and support. I'm sure he knows it too.

In the meantime, 2 Lymies in one house!!! That is just wrong!

Traveler, I am very sorry to hear of this news. I have faith that with your knowledge of Lyme that he is in great hands and will soon recover.

Oh no! That's terrible! I hope doxi will work for him. I'm assuming he didn't get a rash?

You might as well start growing your own astralagus! There are places where you can buy seeds--you probably already know this but I thought I'd mention it.

I am sorry to hear this but also interested because I believe my husband is infected and refusing treatment. I dont have a lot of time to post on here but I would like to follow this and future threads. Please keep us updated on his progress. 2015 is not been good so far for our family either.

While at my LLMD's office yesterday I saw the pain and agony in all the patients' eyes and facial expressions. The minute I left the office I began to sob because of their pain. Funny.....I can't cry for myself. My heart goes out to each and every one of you on this forum and elsewhere. Your hubby is blessed to have your expertise to help him fight this STUPID disease.

I have been thinking about a career and since I don't want to stay in an office in front of a computer or get a teaching licence (which I was going to do but I change my mind for various reasons), I have been thinking about a career change, once my little one goes to Kindergarden. He is 3 now, so it's time to do something and be ready in a couple of years.

How about we become naturopaths or hebalists? I've looked at some programs. I have no doubt we can do it! We can even study together! I am serious about this! I just started to look around and I am sure we can do it! It would be so much fun to do it together! Here is a college with several programs including the tuition--there MAY be others better or more affordable, I have no idea, I just started to look.

I started a while back to look into an ND degree, but that would have been too time consuming, I don't want to go to college again. In a few years I have to think about the kids going to college LOL But I do find this fascinating, different programs, and not super-expensive compared to what I had to pay for college and master degree, that's for sure:
