I finally get it.

Both the references to "pain deep in the bone" and the pain itself. I always though it strange when others would complain about pain in the bone and I could never understand what people meant (how does one feel pain in your bone). But I don't always understand what my body is telling me and sometimes cannot recognize sensations for what they are. I literally cannot always describe pain as pain… a very strange and inconvenient cognitive problem.

Anyway, sitting here reading and a deep shooting pain in my lower leg hits me, I've felt it numerous times before and it just dawns on me what it is… Had am appt w/ LLMD yesterday and several sx indicate lyme is flaring.

I'm so sorry you had to find out what this is like, P. I had it a lot, especially when I had both Lyme and Bart untreated. When it was at it's worst for me, I couldn't stand on my legs for more than 10 minutes without them collapsing.

Honestly, there are no nerves inside the bone, but we do have nerves that wrap all around the outside of the bone, so I believe that's what we feel, although I have no confirmation of this - just my own curiosity got to me and I started looking it up.

I'm so sorry that you are flaring right now too. I hope that you can make yourself fairly comfortable and can get through this time.

You know, your theory of nerves wrapped around the bone makes sense… it almost feels like vice type of pain.

Sorry you're feeling it Pirouette. It's a pain I have tried to explain to my OH, but it's an odd one to try and put into words - like trying to explain how my teeth 'hurt' - no NOT like tooth 'ache', lol. Do you get the same bone ache in your arms too?

Do you have Bart, P? Is this more a Bart symptom, or Lyme?

I am fairly sure I get this sometimes too. It is quite unpleasant and feels like a really deep aching. Sometimes, it feels like it throbs.

My teeth ache sometimes too. Lyme and co is so weird.

I'm not sure what causes bone pain. I have not really looked yet. I would not be surprised if Bartonella did it.

I have bone pain in my forearms and lower legs.
I can't rest my arms on a hard surface.
On doxycycline 200mg right now just starting treatment.
Does this sound like Bartonella?

Maybe that's what I have....it's deeper than muscle pain.

Since i already have arthritis in spine (failed 360 fusion)... i know this pain very well.
I would say something like "There is a storm coming... i feel it in my bones" ... which sounded really weird coming from a "young" 35 yr old person... and now that i am 50 yrs old... it still sounds like something an elderly person would say.

When the weather is very cold and it rains... it is the worst... it feels like my bones are turning into icicles... i will wear insulated track pants when it is really bad... which seems to help retain some warmth... its not alleviated by any means... but it does help.

The only thing that can give the most relief is a heated pool... being weightless surrounded by warmth is heaven to me.

On the bucket list... daily access to heated pool. ;)
