is it harmful to take antibiotics for strep throat?

Hey everyone! My friend has lyme disease but we are currently waiting to see a LLMD to talk about treatment and come up with a plan. The other morning she started to come down with what seems to be strep throat (white spots in her throat). She is afraid to go to the doc to get treated for the strep because they give you antibiotics for it. She is worried that the antibiotics may cause a negative reaction with her body since her lyme symptoms are so severe, maybe something along the lines of a herx? She is not currently on a treatment plan for lyme but does anyone have any experience taking antibiotics for other sicknesses while having lymes? Are we overreacting about going in to see the doc? She has just had extremely bad experiences with regular medicine docs just like most of you! Please help any advice would be great!

Yes I've had chronic strep throughout my disease, almost 2 years. It was very annoying to eat and drink anything. I never thought strep could be chronic until it happened to me.

My LLMD said my immune system is so overwhelmed that the strep became chronic, so it's neither a symptom nor a coincidence. It's a result of a poor immune system. I've been on and off antibiotics for a couple years and I'm just starting to feel better. The lyme and strep are healing at the same time.
