Am I actually losing my mind? :-(

I'm back on abx after a 3 week break, as I developed stiff neck, headache and emotional issues when I came off the abx. I've had brain fog and a ton of neurological issues, but yesterday, I had two incidences where I really feel I'm losing it :-( . . . first, in the supermarket, at the checkout, I was getting my shopping bags out in the trolley, ready to load them up, and I noticed my car keys in the bottom of one of them. I must have put them in there when I was walking from the car to the supermarket, but I have absolutely no recollection of doing so, and it's not something I would normally do.

Then, later in the day, I was sitting in the lounge, on my laptop - admittedly concentrating on something quite difficult to do . . . I looked at the clock at 5.30pm, and thought my husband should be home in a minute . . . then a few minutes later, he walked into the living room with a cup of tea in his hand! So he'd obviously come through the front door, past the lounge door and through to the kitchen at the back of the house, without me realising. I said "oh hello, I didn't hear you come in", and he said that he'd got in about five minutes ago, and had put his head round the door and said hello, as he always does, and I'd answered him! I have absolutely no recollection of this :-(

Am I losing my mind? Is this dementia setting in? I'm so scared of this. I've often had things like not being able to see something I'm looking for when it's right in front of me, and when I think about it, I do have things where someone says they've told me something for example, and I know they must have, but I cannot remember it at all.

Please help me with this :'(

Thanks celeste, I'm sorry you're having similar problems but yes, it helps to know I'm not the only one. I wish you lived up the road and then we could swap crazy stories over a cuppa! ;-) I do feel sometimes I'm clinging on by my fingertips, and it really frightens me when these things happen. Is it just part of brain fog, or is it dementia setting in? Will it improve? Will I ever feel normal again? I'm so fed up of having this heavy, weary, woozy, foggy head :-(.

As I say, I've just started back on abx. Maybe that's stirring up toxins again. I just bought some pinella, but haven't tried it yet - I think it's supposed to be good for brain fog. I also bought some coconut oil recently and am trying to have a spoonful every now & then - as you say, it's supposed to be good for brain health.

You are certainly not alone in this crazy brain fog phenom... i find myself doing all sorts of odd behaviors... i think tiredness plays a role as well... i will try to microwave a cup of coffee in the freezer, or put the ice cream container in the microwave... the other day i almost poured the dog food in the trash instead of dog bowl.

And then the dyslexic spelling drives me batty! I have been an advanced student since childhood... spelling with ease... and now... my gosh!
It is just ridiculous!

Another weird incident... my roommate said that he came to my room the other night... because i was yelling...i said that my leg was hurting... he said that he lightly rubbed my back ... until i calmed down and went back to sleep... he told me that he had said to me "You are scary the crap outta me" ... all i remember is him saying that i was scaring him... but i thought it was some "odd dream" ... but it really happened? Its very Odd.

I've gone from being scared to being curious... like... am i drinking enough water or what did i eat today...how have i been sleeping... med change,etc... trying to figure it out by process of elimination.

Sometimes there doesn't seem to be an answer... except maybe what i see quoted here alot "Detox,Detox,Detox" What Celeste suggested is Really Good to get rid of toxins.

Here is another suggested way to do it...

Put about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
Swish the oil around your mouth for about 15-20 minutes.
Spit out the oil, then brush your teeth.
If you use coconut oil like me, then you may have to chew on the oil for a minute or so to let it melt, because it is solid at room temperature.

It is best to do this on an empty stomach, before you brush your teeth. I prefer to do it while I take a shower in the morning.

I put the oil in my mouth, swish it around while in the shower and try to “push” and “pull” the oil between my teeth.

When I get out of the shower I spit out the oil into the trash or toilet (not the sink… it can clog), rinse my mouth with water and then brush my teeth

***The way oil pulling works is simple. When you swish the oil around your mouth, the bacteria “get stuck” in it and dissolve in the liquid oil.

***Basically, you remove a large amount of the bacteria and plaque in your mouth each time you do this.

Thanks so, so much for your reply bellyful. It does help to know that other people are experiencing similar things, although obviously I'm sorry that any of us are going through this. The spelling thing also scares me - normally I am a great speller, but sometimes, when I'm playing scrabble games online for example, I transpose the letters - simple ones like a CH or something, I will put down as HC. Once it's down, I realise my mistake, but how could I think that it was right before?? Other times, I kind of forget a word. For example, someone had played the word AIT. I hadn't heard this word before, and then I remember thinking, oh, well I guess it's just the spelling of the number 8, like you can have VEE for the full word version of the letter V. Completely forgetting that the full word version of the number 8 is, in fact, EIGHT!! A word I've obviously seen a million times before, but there was just this kind of confused, mixed up feeling in my brain. It really scared me :-(. It really is reassuring to know that this happens to other people too :-/. Do you think this can be improve, or preferably go away completely, with treatment? I really just want my old head back - fed up with this one now.

I kind of assumed you were in the US . . . so we're not as far apart as I'd thought! Makes me feel strangely less alone to know there are some UK lymies about . . . yes, we may yet get to have that cuppa! ;-) xx

The Pinella really, really does help with these brain issues. I am going to order more. I stopped taking it due to alcohol sensitivities. It really does work.

Herb Pharm makes an anise tincture for less. I might try it to see if it works as well. :)

Thanks lymie girl , and thanks too, happyjo - so maybe it's not just me then! :D. I don't think I realised that this was something lymies suffer with . . . I know when I first confessed on a lyme forum (probably this one) about the not being able to see something that was right in front of me thing, I was amazed that other people seemed to have the exact same thing happening to them! I guess it is reassuring to know that this is perhaps just another symptom that points to this definitely being lyme . . . (still diagnosis-doubting!! :-/)

Flossie - I had an issue with the grocery store, too. Last summer i think it was (I even posted about it, too)

I had the groceries in the cart, went to my car, put the bags in the car and then took the grocery cart back.
I walked to my car and I didn't have my purse. So, I looked where I put the cart, and there wasnt a cart with a purse in it, so then went into the store. Well, I must have had a panicked look on my face, as right away a man and a lady met me with my purse.

This has never happened to me before..I am always keeping an eye on my purse....

Blame it on lyme.

Thanks sayyadina . That's great that you're making some progress on these brain issues. I will look into the herbs you mention - hope to start pinella next week - although unfortunately, I don't have Buhner's books . . . I will try & check on his website.
