Lyme and adrenal fatigue/ artemisinin

hello, I have had Lyme disease for many years and in the past six months I have started to feel that weird internal jittery/shaky feeling I've heard people with Lyme say they've had. My doctor said I had adrenal fatigue and put me on hydrocortisone. I am now going to a doctor that is more Lyme literate. She has put me on artemesinin. I was wondering if anyone else has taken this? When I take it, it makes that jittery feeling going away. I'm hoping this makes it so I can stop taking the hydrocortisone all together. Wanted to know anyone's experience with artemisinin and/or issues with adrenal fatigue from Lyme. I would love to get off hydrocortisone because of the bad side effects and would love to hear if anyone was able to fix this type of issue.

I don't know if this is similar - but I have vibrations in my body...and the intensity changes...sometimes it's like a motor is running inside me...not sure if yours is the same.

Did the hydrocortisone help at all? Or is it just the artemesinin that helps?

Yes! I feel like I'm sitting on a dryer or something and body feels like it's vibrating. Especially my head and neck and chest. I get really shaky and weak too. The hydrocortisone helps me but I had low adrenals. My doctor thinks the Lyme or one of the co infections caused me to have the adrenal fatigue. Hydrocortisone helped but it is a steroid and I have been told bad things about taking it. It also has made me gain a LOT of weight. I think the artemisinin is treating what is causing this and makes me feel better without taking the hydrocortisone but artemesinin is not meant to be taken long term. It might be worth having your adrenals checked but if you have a dr that will monitor you I'd recommend the artemesinin. It made the vibrations stop right away but they come back quickly

Although Buhner now recommends Sida acuta & cryptolepis and a few other things.

But here is what Buhner said to one person asking why arteminisin:

"Artemisinin is an isolated constituent, cryptolepis is a whole herb, as such it is better for the body and much harder for bacteria to develop resistance to—at this point malaria is developing a rapid resistance to artemisinin but not to cryptolepis. Artemisinin has more side effects, crypto much less—it is much safer for the liver, no side effects have been noted to its use. That is what I would use if I were you."

I really cannot find anything from reliable sources that talk about using arteminisin for adrenal issues, but I haven't launch an all scale attack in looking for that information either.

Isn't Artemisinin - wormwood? I thought it was in a Parasite Cleanse I was thinking of buying a while ago.

That would make sense for babesia, but am also wondering how it works for adrenals.

Yes, Artemesia annua is worm wood and arteminisin is a derivative of it: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3106422/

I wasn't able to find anything on it helping adrenals - but I didn't spend more than about 10 or 15 minutes looking either.

Thanks guys! I was more thinking that the babesia was affecting my adrenals and that's why those symptoms go away when I take it. Thats my best guess at least. That's interesting though, I'll have to ask my doctor and look into those other treatments!

They did the saliva test for my adrenals. I think she was seeing how I reacted to artemesinin to see if I had babesia as well. My doctor said I would feel worse but I actually feel a lot better since taking it, except feeling a little more tired

My tremors, or motor running sensation is caused by heavy metals toxicity. I havent been tested for babs tho. I've used herbs only for Lyme and co' s

You could ask your doctor about an adrenal support supplement, like Cortisol Manager. Artemesinin is an antiparasitic.
