Alzheimer's-a 'Lyme' symptom?

Personally, and I put emphasis on 'personally', as we're ALL, no matter our race OR religion, entitled to our opinions.... I Believe Alzheimer's is yet another symptom of chronic Lyme &/or co-infections such as C.P.(chlamydophilia)-found in autopsies of Alzheimer's victims.

I hope I remember tomorrow that I wrote this-Lol!!!! But seriously

See, what I'm confused about is: Is Alzheimer's a symptom of Lyme, or does it coexist with Lyme, kind of like a coinfection?

Or is Alzheimer's simply the last stage of late-stage untreated Lyme?

My mother had brain fog and then ALS, and she died of ALS. But the ALS featured a very distinct cluster of symptoms that I haven't seen in other folks with Lyme, and the other people I knew who had ALS (interestingly, both from the town I grew up in), also had some very distinct, typically "ALS" symptoms.

Yet, many ALS patients test positive for Lyme. So, once again, is ALS something that typically coexists with Lyme, or is it, well, the same as Lyme?

How does it all fit? And, I hate to say, but I haven't read Horowitz's book (too long), are all these diseases symptoms or some form of coinfection?

This is a never ending discussion, really. My son is on the Autism Spectrum and I see the same behaviors in myself. The difference is that I remember having at least some of those behaviors before my symptoms started (in my teens).

One thing I'm wondering about is my son was diagnosed with motor dysgraphia which is the inability to write using a pen/pencil. For the most part it doesn't come into play because he uses a computer for all school work (an accommodation we requested).

Given that my symptoms started almost 20 before he was born, he likely has Lyme. He's symptomatic but not as bad as I am. We are going to get him tested. I'm interested to see if he is positive and and then he's treated, will the motor dysgraphia is still tbehere or if will it clear up with the treatment. i have tremors as well, but not to the extent of Micheal Fox.

I think strain of Lyme, which coinfections are present (and which strains of each), and epigenetics (gene-environment interaction) play a role in how the symptoms of Lyme/coinfections manifest in each person.

Some are convinced most chronic diseases may be caused by Lyme. I'm not sure it is just Lyme, but I do believe most chronic diseases likely have some kind of "stealth" infectious and/or inflammatory component to them.

My daughter and I both had such significant improvement in cognitive and executive function when we treated bartonella/babesia.

I can well understand how the symptoms we were experiencing could be described as cognitive decline/Alzheimer's.

I think that it is now safe to say that Lyme (ie Borrelia infection) is a definite cause of Alzheimer's.

This does not mean it causes EVERY case of Alzheimer's (a small percentage are known to be due to defects in the Amyloid Precursor Protein gene and other genes). But we CAN say now that Borrelia is more than just a "co-infection" or a microbe that happens to show up in people with Alzheimer's but may not be causative. Borrelia is a CAUSE of a percentage of Alzheimer's cases. What percent, we don't yet know.

In Dr MacDonald's most recent series he found an incrdible 5/5 positives. But because this is a very tiny sample size, we cannot conclude that Borrelia causes 100%, even of the cases that are not directly due to gene defects.

The reason we can say beyond any doubt Borrelia is a CAUSE is because the bacteria has been found not only in the hippocampus (classic brain location of Alzheimer damage), but in the plaques and GVB themselves. Amyloid plaques and GVB (Granulo-vacuolar Bodies) are HALLMARKS of Alzheimer's..

The latest studies by Dr M have utilised Molecular Beacon DNA probes - the most accurate technology science possesses for identifying bacteria.

As far as ALS is concerned, again, there may be more than one cause. There has been some strong evidence over the years indicating that a subset, at least, of ALS patients have their disease caused by Borreliosis, and of course we know that Dr Martz and others have seen a dramatic rollback in their disease when treated with appropriate antibiotics.
