I spent some time this afternoon going through the last 30+ pages of the forum, specifically looking for posts re: Igenex testing. I finally was able to get my acupuncturist to sign the requisition form, now I have to convince the local hospital to do the blood draw. But, before I cross "that" bridge, I need to figure out exactly which test(s) to order.

From what I can see from the posts that I read, it appears that the "complete lyme panel" is the best choice for the cost... correct ? I was thinking about the co-infections test but, read that those tests aren't as accurate.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, I should mark test # 6050 "complete lyme panel" on the Igenex form...??? Yes ?

I'm hoping to do the blood draw tomorrow morning (Wednesday) so that the lab can get it shipped out the same day, and arrive in California by Friday.

I need to get this done. I've wasted a LOT of time running around to various doctors only to find out that they wouldn't (or "couldn't" due to their hospital administration) sign the requisition form. Unfortunately, I'm now working on getting a disability hearing via an attorney (since I've been denied twice), and later next week will be filing for bankruptcy. Sad but true. And it'd be nice to have some paperwork in hand to show attorneys / judges / and the yahoo doctors who didn't have the spine to test for this crap.

You can get the Complete Lyme Panel - I think it's $600+
but if money is tight then you could just get the Western Blot IgM and IgG for $210

You are correct - the co-infection tests are even less accurate.

Make sure it goes out tomorrow morning - so it gets there before the weekend when they are closed.

Thanks Girlie. Looking at my form, the cost is $499.

I'll be sure to get the blood draw done in the morning. Unless I have issues getting out of bed in the morning... then I'll wait 'til Monday of next week.

LOL ~ At this point, I just want the paperwork as validation (fingers crossed). It would help with the disability appeal / hearing... would validate all the crap I've gone through for the past 20+ years... and would be great to have something to figuratively throw in the faces of the doctors who either said I didn't have lyme, or that it wouldn't be in their top 10 list of things to look for based on my symptoms, or that quest / labcorp was "a good" lab to send Western blots to.

Six figure a year salaries and I (we) know more about lyme than the doctors do. rolleyes

I did the 499 panel as well. Go there first before testing for co infections. I was DNA positive and had three positive bands, two indeterminate and was ingenex positive and cdc indeterminate.

It was worth every penny!

SailorKim ~ I don't see a #499 on my form. I have a #488 & #489 which are labeled 31kDA Epitope tests IgM & IgG.... Is that what you're referring to ???

UPDATE:

Alright folks, just got back from the hospital where a lab tech did the blood draw. Finally, after a couple of exhausting years trying to find "someone" to sign the requisition form, I learned from Igenex that the signature could be that of a chiro, acupuncturist, dentist, etc. Wish they had told me that a long time ago.

The hospital balked a little bit because my chiro / acupuncturist is obviously not an MD and therefore, wasn't "in their computer system". But, they found a way to push it through anyhow.

Cross your fingers...! After two negative western blot tests from crappy labs, I NEED a positive from Igenex. It'll be one more piece of paperwork that I can put in front of my disability attorney as well as putting it in front of previous docs who said "You don't have lyme."

How long does it take to get results back? And are the results mailed to you or to the doc who signed the requisition form?

It takes about three weeks for the test results...and the signing Dr. gets them.
So make sure you get a copy from him.

My fingers are crossed...and my toes... :-)

Thanks Girlie ! That's what I kind of thought, that the doc gets the results... which I think is ridiculous since I'm the one who's paying for the testing. But, either way, at least the blood draw will be FedEx'd out this afternoon.

And I let the chiro / acupuncturist know that he should expect something in the mail from Igenex, that they would most likely send the results to him and not me.

lol ~ Thanks Trav ! I'm keeping my toes crossed too... at least, when I'm not suffering from foot cramps. :o
