Adult acne surfaced months after long term ABX

My son developed acne at 18 and was unable to resolve it until he quit eating grains (except cold white rice) and milk, and added significant probiotics to his system in the way of supplements, sauerkraut and kefir.

Now he is good (totally better) until he deviates from his diet.

This makes me think it is probably linked to gut bacteria. Yours would have surely been impacted by abx treatment.

I know what you mean! My face was okay, but my back became a mess. Detoxing helped. Add in lots of probiotics, especially from food, like living sauerkraut and coconut kefir.

A mask helped a lot too - mix Bentonite clay with raw apple cider vinegar until the mixture feels whipped and it is silky. Apply to problem areas - avoiding eyes/ lashes/ brows - and it will harden and pull lots of toxins out of the skin. It's amazing how much the mask will pull out. (You should do a patch test first to make sure you can tolerate it well though.) There are YouTube tutorial videos on it. It will make your face red for about 20 minutes, but a thin layer of coconut oil is very soothing.

Well, per liver genetics, my liver does not detox well. Specific supplements for this issue per a Dr did not seem to help. If I was a hard drinker, I would probably be dead from it.

So, I suppose this puts a lot of detox burden on the skin, just a guess. This was definitely from antibiotics, or the dead stuff from it still trapped inside.

As a guy, I cant see my self with a clay mask LOL! (You ladies would have to be a guy to understand this.) This could take a while to sink in.............

LOL! Blue!!! " A very manly shade of tan" !!!

I'm going to be looking into benonite clay for using as a mask for any part of my body.

Do we need to worry about additives or is there a specific brand or two that are known for their purity?

Just to be sure… I think awhile back you had posted about yeast/fungal overgrowth. There could be a connection w/ your skin issue. I learned from first-hand experience that I didn't have an acne situation taking over my face, but it was a very similarly-looking reaction to yeast/fungus that originated in the gut, grew up the esophagus, into my sinuses and of course, started growing out of my orifices. It was crazy. But if it's growing up your throat and into your mouth, it WILL continue growing and it has only one place to go… out.

A few clues will tell you if this is acne or a reaction to y/f overgrowth:
- Red bumps, that would be cystic-like acne that would normally be filled with white puss, are filled with clear liquid if it's a y/f issue.
- Little red bumps or whiteheads are actually more of a rash but could still be clogged pores, which will act like acne.
- The skin can feel very raw, dry and oily at the same time and itchy. Acne doesn't itch.
- If you expose your face to the sun, the rays will kill the yeast on contact and you'll see a flare as your skin is trying to slough off dead debris from y/f, but then it will clear up pretty fast.

Remedies are of course, deal w/ y/f overgrowth in the gut/throat/mouth but you'll need to be hyperactive about washing your face every AM and every PM, and keeping clean sheets on the bed—even changing your pillow case EVERY NIGHT. If your pillows are old, replace them with cheap $9 throwaway pillows you can buy at Target until the issue is solved.

I can recommend some great facial cleansers but anything with the following ingredients is good (I pulled this list from an Ovante anti fungal face cream that I love):

Actually, I would like to disagree with this part of P's post:

I believe it's HIGHLY individual, but I have had a time or two where I used what I had assumed was too much probiotics. It produced a lot of intestinal gas (very painful for me) and loose stools - or maybe it was a wrong strain for what I needed????

If you are eating conventional grains you are dosing yourself with glyphosate which acts as both a mineral chelator and an antibiotic in the gut. Glyphosate is used as a dessicant in both conventional and GMO grains and legumes. In my opinion you can't heal your gut if you continue eating these foods.

Yeast die off is a thing that's hard to prove or disprove I would assume, but like you, my intestines are my "problem child", but in another way - mine are mostly nerve related issues that cause major cramping and psuedo-blockages and require me to stay on a three herb combo daily.

I have been using a bread recipe that uses a bit of rice flour and chickpea flour and then I make biscuits using almond meal when I simply can't stand it and must have some 'bread-like' products. They aren't what we got used to, but it works. LOL!!!

I did mean for those that aren't sure, or seem to be fine, but they have a couple of things going on that make them wonder - like me!! LOL! and I don't have access to doctors that are qualified, or would even do the testing necessarily without a massive fight.

And even then, I would stand a 50/50 shot of just being asked to leave, believe me. The medical care provided here for these things is pretty scary - believe me. That's why I've chosen to treat myself for as much as I can and the things that I need to.

I don't know about it being so rare - look at this community!! We have people sharing their information - some of which has been pretty personal (look at you!!!) and we continue to gather it here!!
