When ticks are very small, burying their head doesn't feel the same. I walked into a whole nest of the nymph ticks just last week. They were so small they looked like flecks of finely ground black pepper. My skin is very pale where ever there are no freckles (
) and so they show up easily. I didn't think much of it, as I thought it was just some dirt that I had gotten into - until that itch started - then I took another look, and discovered that they didn't just brush off.
I put one under a magnifying glass and sure enough - under enough magnification, I saw those little bitty legs!!! Pepper flakes don't have legs, so I knew immediately what had happened, and proceeded to make sure that I got every last one off of me right away. Fortunately, I'm on a preventative year round now (2 bouts with Lyme is enough!!), but I did feel my immune system ramp up to take care of the issue.
So the size of the tick makes no difference. As a matter of fact, they are like snakes - it's the little ones that are most dangerous, for their "poison" is more concentrated, and they are harder to see.
And the bull's eye rash is completely diagnostic for Lyme when a knowledgeable Lyme doctor is the one consulted.
And after having been infected for 40 years the first time, let me tell you - it's worth all the risks to treat early and aggressively.
So let me know if you didn't get my email and I will send it again. I most certainly want you to get the treatment you deserve so that you don't have to try to live with this the rest of your life.
