Finally herxing after 2 years of treatment

After 2 years of antibiotics and no progress, I have finally started to herx. I tried everything, honest to God, everything that I've read about here and to the ends of the internet in search of a herx. The antibiotics helped to maintain everything, but if I didn't take them for only 2 days, I'd start to regress. I thought this was normal for me, so I just kept taking my antibiotics every day.

I was in denial about having babesia for the longest time, but decided to begin treating it a few weeks ago. I have been on clindy/quinine and definitely having some major hot flashes and air hunger herxes. I attribute my inability to herx to the babesia covering up the rest of my infections. I have just begun trying all of my different herbs and things that previously had no effect on me, good or bad, and I am herxing from them all. I know herxing is a necessary evil, but I am so glad to finally be doing it.

So moral of the story: If you're getting nowhere with treatment, try treating all 3 infections at the same time.

I've read about this type of thing in Bryan Rosner's latest book and in one of Buhner's books.....an underlying infection prevents full healing from Lyme (or another infection).

I tried basically every herb I've read about that is antispirochetal, none of it made a difference at all until I began to treat babesia. That includes Buhner and Cowden. Just something to think about if your progress is halted.

Ugh this is what worries me. I only did pcr for babesia because it was free through my insurance. Negative.

I still have not herxed after a month on biaxin twice a day. I take plenty of probiotics and antioxidants and I eat very well.

Hopefully my pain will lessen. I'm not feeling very hopeful as I want to be. I will listen to my llmd though. He's experienced. He understands that I am not a bank.

I recall your how frustrated you were in some of your past posts Dazedpete and I am really glad to hear you are finally getting some reaction to give you better direction with your healing!!

Would you mind sharing which herbs from Buhner and Cowden you are taking to target the babesia?

Cool thx for the fyi Dazedpete :) What dosage of Arteminsin do you take daily and are you pulsing it? I plan on giving the art a whirl soon but I cant decide how to take it....

Awesome, thx again Dazedpete!! I was def leaning towards the 4 days on, 3 days off pulse method so you just helped make my decision easier. Ive got the allergy research brand. The bottle says take 2 capsules which equals 400mg total so thats what I'll do.

My llmd had originally told me to take it without even mentioning pulsing it....but Ive come across too many that say it *should* be pulsed so thats what Im going with. I had just heard so many different type pulsing regimens I couldnt figure what was the right one.

Im going to start it next week....now I just have to figure out how long of duration I will take it.

What were your herd symptoms??
How long into clindy did they start?
How long before they blew over?

I'm trying to figure out how I want to dose artemisinin.

Buhner recommends 100-200mg 3X/day for 30-60 days but it seems many people pulse.

However, they still take it 3X/day so, clarification from you would be most appreciated.

My LLMD is very much about antibiotics - he deferred to my research with my selection of supplements and, he, too, said to do herbs but can't guide me on them.

I'd read about the pulsing schedule and about the need to take artemisinin away from antioxidants. The middle of the night dosing is new to me and might prove challenging since that's when I usually take my activated charcoal.

Never easy - huh? lol

I'll figure out some way to tame this beast!
