Worried my 2 year girl old got Lyme

Hello everyone I am new to the group,
My now 2 year old daughter became ill back in March of this year 7 days after an encounter at an equestrian park and just 4 days after MMR vaccine. After several months, doctor vists ( including pediatrician, allergist,immunologists, and dermatologist) lab work, skin biopsy I am still left with no answers. Doctors have mentioned possible serum sickness, drug reaction, viral infection, Lyme disease, autoimmune disorder as possible reason my daughter has been covered in a hive/lesion type rash for the past 7 months. The rash is very numerous on legs/ arms but also covers chest, stomach, buttocks, on her back by armpits only, face, neck, top of feet and hands but only sometimes. Her WBC is 4.9 (normal 6.0-17.0), lymphocytes abs count 2009 (normal 4000-10500) total IgG was 391 now down to 309 (normal 533-1078) her BUN/ creatinine is 77 (normal 6-22) protein level 5.9 (normal 6.3-8.2), globulin total 1.7 (normal 2.0-3.8). With this blood work a western blot was also ordered for Lyme 39 IgG came back reactive and Lyme 41 IgG came back reactive all others came back negative or non- reactive. The Dermatologist decided with WBC dropping, 2 reactive responses on western blot, and facial spasm my daughter is having to go ahead and treat with Erythromycin 4.2ml 3 times a day for 21 day course. She felt whether underlying Lyme that had been missed in active state or other type of infection may have been cause for the hives/lesion (dermagraphia) if any pressure applied on skin hives appear. She has had hives non stop for the 7 months they last in one spot for 36-48 hours at a time. Some are sound red others target or open target C shaped. Skin biopsy diagnosis was interstitial dermatitis with numerous eosinophils, with rare lymphocytes. Most consistent with allergic/ hypersensitivity reaction to internal antigen. doctors have tried the following medications: Benadryl, Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, short 1 week corse of steroids ( cause rash to become much worse when stopped but rash disappeared completely while on them after just 2 doses), Zantac. Currently she is on Hydroxzine 5ml 3 times a day to make her more comfortable but doesn't really help rash. As well as antibiotics. We were given Tagament but wasn't able to start before antibotics were prescribed as it causes antibotics to become more potent. Any idea what this could be or what infections to look at or for, blood test to be done, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry your little girl is going through this.

Because of The fact that bands 39 and 41 were reactive along with those symptoms - it looks like your daughter has Lyme disease.

Unfortunately Erythromycin is not a recommended antibiotic to treat Lyme disease, as it has not shown to be effective. You can look up Dr. Burrascano's Lyme Disease Treatment Guidelines on the internet and check out the recommended antibiotics.
One that is commonly used for young children is Amoxicillin.

What do you mean by "encounter" at an equestrian park?

I think you should find a Pediatric LLMD and schedule an appt for your daughter. The sooner she is treated (properly) - the best chance she has of getting the infection into remission.

If your daughter has Lyme Disease, chances are an ID Dr. will not diagnose and treat properly.

The best Dr. to see your daughter is a LLMD. LLMD's are the 'experts' when it comes to Lyme Disease.

Almost all of us here on the forum have had the runaround from Dr.'s, including specialists - such as ID Dr.'s,
Rheumatologists, etc.

I am in Canada, so I'm sorry, I don't have any knowledge about Southern Florida and Lyme disease treatment.
But if you start a new thread to search for a LLMD in S.Florida, I'm sure by morning, you will have some responses from other members on this forum.

Sorry for the reason you're here but, glad you found us.

And, sorry to tell you but, I agree with the others - your daughter's test results show that she has Lyme (and she might also have one or more of the infections that often accompany Lyme).

Please don't waste your money on an ID doctor. They are trained to think that Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat. My signature tells the truth.
