That's a good question. How do you tell if it's mold issues? I haven't got that far yet for myself.
It's definitely worse during pollen season, although we get some periods where you know it pollen season because everything is covered in yellow dust and now that I think about it I'm not sure it really makes much different.
We talked about having him tested and starting to get allergy shots (which he did as a kid), but haven't gotten far on that. He travels so much that making appointments is next to impossible. He works from home, but travels to CA because the company is head quartered there. They also have plants in NY, VT and China that he has to visit. Customers are all over the world. But his office downstairs is where he has the most trouble with allergies.
We have a basement which is unusual in NC because of the water table. To have a basement your property has to slope enough for it to be a walkout. One wall is all under ground, another is all open and the two sides slope downward (so are half underground). In New England where the basements are common and all underground, mold is common. I don't think mold is common with walkouts because the moisture doesn't get trapped.
I've read posts about testing for mold. It seemed as if they were talking about getting themselves tested. I know that there are test kits you can use to test for it in the house, but I know that they don't cover everything.
So any information you can point me at would be helpful. Otherwise, we may end up pulling up all the carpeting and replacing it with flooring. It'll be really expensive and may not change anything.
Thanks,
Kim
