Good news - Daptomycin clinical trials have begun

Dr. Richard Horowitz has started Daptomycin trials in his office, watch this video starting from the pinned time:

In case you don't know what this is about, in March 2015 a paper got published by the researchers at John Hopkins University showing, for the first time ever, in vitro complete eradication of all Borrelia forms using daptomycin, cefoperazone and doxycycline. It is worth mentioning no other antibiotic combination (and especially none of the combinations we are currently using) has worked to achieve complete eradication, not even in vitro...

Daptomycin have poor brain blood barrier penetration so it could not be a cure for Lyme, unfortunately

Well... Horowitz is certainly not a bad LLMD, so if he is using it in his trials then maybe it does make some sense.

It certainly is better than ceftriaxone (rocephin) in clearing up CSF infection:

"Compared to ceftriaxone, daptomycin cleared the bacteria from the CSF more rapidly and caused less CSF inflammation. This combined effect provides an explanation for the observation that daptomycin prevented the development of cortical brain injury in experimental pneumococcal meningitis."

It is true it only gets in to the brain in small amounts, but if those small amounts are enough ...

The biggest problem with Lyme Disease is not that the bacteria is very clever but that the humans were very dumb.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis also creates persistent chronic infection, and even after you are "cured" from TB you can still relapse years later (same as Lyme).

It should not be absolutely shocking for the medical community that Lyme acts similarly. Yet the TB patients have much better options, expectations and tests than Lyme people have...

So those two: Kim Lewis and Ying Zhang... At least now we do have some world renowned researchers looking into it, which was not the case in the past.

Maybe in 3-4 years we wont be treating the chronic form of this disease with roots and potions like humans used to do before the microscope was invented...

Blood brain barrier is highly compromised during inflamed meningitis, its not a case for majority of Lyme patients

I doubt the BBB becomes highly compromised in just 18h after infection.

Nevertheless, for serious cases, antibiotics can be administered by intrathecal injection, that means directly in the CSF:

"Vancomycin cannot freely penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB); therefore, when administered intravenously, its concentration in the CSF is insufficient. Therefore, intrathecal injection of vancomycin is necessary to achieve the desired bactericidal level in the CSF. Thus, intrathecal administration of vancomycin seems a very effective and safe treatment for MRSA meningitis."

And again, if Mr Horowitz uses Daptomycin in his trials, i think he already knows that it passes BBB only in 5-8%, so if he uses it as treatment option then maybe he has a reason...

But TB is nothing like the Lyme bacteria - so other than persistent infection, there is not much in common.

Those roots and potions healed my 40 yr old Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, RMSF, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis and more infections. I wouldn't scoff at them too hard.

I see no controversy when doctors are searching. Please let them search and search. I do not want to keep my great grandchildren in a bubble so they don't get lyme.

The TB the treatment is very similar, it involves a combination of antibiotics, and treatment duration can be in months. When it comes to chronic lyme I sometimes hear some MDs say "it is stupid to give people antibiotics for years, they either work in the first month or they don't work". Well ... that is exactly how TB is treated.

Actually when i got Rifampin once from a drug store, the pharmacist told me "her son had TB too, and that ill be OK in 6 months or so". Obviously i was buying Rifampin for my Bartonella coinfection, not for TB... and with totally no guarantees i'm gonna be OK in 6 months...

Yes the herbs are working, that is what i am using right now.

But this is not an excuse for the medical community. This condition should be easy to cure, and in months, not years!

We are just using the wrong antibiotics, they are not even working in vitro let alone in people... And they just realized this... last year...

Any LLMD that says that only one month of abx is needed for chronic Lyme isn't worth going to. Any other MD's just simply don't know any better.

I completely agree with you on the herbs working not being an excuse for the medical community though!! But the ILADS trained LLMD's knew that those abx were only so effect in people, but they can only work with what they know. I've been deeply involved with the "Lyme world" for the last 7.5 years and I've seen amazing progress over that time in how these infections are treated - especially when you take into consideration that we are going against so many main stream doctors, IDSA, the CDC and more. I figure we are doing pretty good when you factor in that.
