I have a lot of joint damage from Lyme and am considering Prolozone injections. Just wondering if anyone has done these and if they cause you to herx. I haven't been able to find any info about using them when you have Lyme.

I was feeling guilty about only bumping this up one more time,and I don't remember anyone asking this before, so I googled it. I did find one place that says this:
"IMPORTANT NOTE: While ozone treatments can be used to treat chronic systemic conditions such as Lyme Disease and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFIDS), our use of ozone is limited exclusively to the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, such as those listed above. We do NOT treat chronic Lyme Disease (isolated Lyme arthritis is different) or CFIDS"

Now, I wouldn't call this office Lyme literate, because I don't know that they are, but it serves as a head's up.

Hi! I just had my first injections of Prolozone in my right shoulders and thumb. My doctor uses an ultrasound machine so she knows where to stick. I saw the arthritis that Lyme has caused with my own eyes! Ugh.

The shots hurt like he** and the pain after was even more than expected. If you do this, I would have some strong pain medicine on hand if possible.

I will go back in 2 weeks to see if there's a difference. It takes 4 to 6 months to see the full effect and determine if another is needed. It was very expensive and of course out of pocket. i figure it's an investment in my career... I can't play the violin and make money if I can't play!

To be honest I was relieved to see arthritis because my last MRI showed nothing, and I was panicking because I couldn't figure out why my joints and tendons just weren't getting better. Now there's something to fix. I miss m job.

I also did an ozone IV which really helped already, and some magnesium IVs as well. This place is the greatest!

Ollyrolly, I am full of arthritis and bone spurs. My dr keeps telling me I don't have Lyme, just diffuse osteorthritis. My right shoulder is one of my worst joints. I do not have pain, but I can't do windmills with my arms now due to the damage. My neck is also really noisy and the grinding is terrible. I am getting so I hate to turn my head. Are you having a lot of pain your joints? Please let me know how you are doing with this. When I herx the inflammation causes more damage, so I wondered if this would cause a herx. Every time I try anything I end up worse, so I am wary of doing Prolozone. Thanks for your response.

I can ask my doc when I see her in two weeks if in can hurt you, but She seemed confident in it and she's very cautious and naturopathic. Yes I have had severe joint pain. physical therapy only takes me so far. My neck is also a disaster, but I'm sure she has tricks up her sleeve for that too. If this can fix my joints I have hope for everything else.

I am not herxing all over from the shots, but they are painful today so I'm resting. I herxed from the ozone IV for about a week and a half, but then my pain was better overall and my energy pretty much doubled.

Have hope! I'm extremely disabled at the moment and finding these treatments has finally started really helping me get my health back. Right now, in addition to killing bugs with samento and other herbs, we are focusing on getting my body functioning again to undue the damage. I'll let you know how I do! Hang in there.

And does anyone know if there can be a point in which this won't work - ie the damage is too much?

I don't know the answer to that traveler, but the dr who invented it said that in the 15 years of giving the treatment, he never had a patient who needed a knee replacement. It can help to regrow cartilage.
