LLND appt. today

So, he wants me to continue on the Rif/mino combo I'm on.

I told him I had a bitter taste in my mouth - and was wondering if it was coming from my stomach - or was it a side effect of the meds.
He wasn't sure - but has sent a prescription to our compounding pharmacy for Nystatin. He said even though I don't have obvious signs - no white tongue, no itching 'down below', etc. that I've been on antibiotics a long time...and thinks i should take it.

Since I don't have obvious yeast issues - should I just take it how he prescribes it...or should I do a search and read what Pirouette suggests? Or...is that not necessary since I don't have any of the obvious symptoms.

So - Janet - should I just take it the way he has prescribed it?

I know there's a dosing schedule for the powder that Pirouette describes in a thread...I'm just wondering since no obvious symptoms - do I still have to follow that...

I think my LLND has prescribed I take 150 mg twice a day...

When do you take yours? with food? or empty stomach... away from antibiotics?
My LLND didn't think it was a big deal when i took it - I'll check the notes he wrote on my appt. - but I thought he said with food was okay.

Tickbite - I think mine is going to be powder - because the prescription is going to the compounding Pharmacy...or is that also necessary if i get the capsules?

geez - another thing to take. I'm getting kind of burned out taking all this stuff...I think it's because there isn't a significant improvement quickly...so it's like 'is this stuff even working?'

From what I read when you start taking the Nystatin, IF you have a problem you will know. There should be either an improvement of symptoms or a herx. Of course, I had the herx. It was pretty noticeable.

The way I took it was per million units. I am not sure how yours will relate, mg's vs. million units.

The dosing chart is a way to tell if you have an issue. If you keep increasing doses and never have a change, you don't have Candida. According to P if you don't have an issue you can take maximum dose (8 million per day) and nothing will happen.

If you decide to take more than what was prescribed, make sure to read the dosing chart. You don't want to increase too fast.

My doctor said that lots of LD symptoms can be the same as Candida symptoms. That was the case for me.
