I'm sorry I totally forgot about my post *brain fog*!!
Since stopping treeatment I've been doing a lot of cleansing and detoxing. I've cleansed my gut, healed some of the damage that was done (bad inflammation, bleeding, anal fissures++), recolonized some of my gut flora, killed off some candida++. Also some heavy metal detoxing and currently on a heavy liver cleanse & regenerator. I feel a lot stronger and ready to start IV treatment next week. Keep in mind I did a whole year of self-treatment prior to discovering the root cause was Lyme & co. I did a lot of parasite cleansing, colon cleansing, heavy metal detoxing, blood; lymph; liver; kidney; & skin cleansing.++
I haven't really herxed any during the almost 5 months of oral treatment, but I don't know if that was because the abx wasn't working or because I was good at detoxing. My detox game is definitely strong and my pathways are flowing nicely! But we'll see what happens when I start IV.
During treatment with orals I was able to go straight to full dose without much reaction whereas other patients could barely take two meds while I was on 4 or 5 different meds. To be honest, I'd appreciate at least a little herxing when I start IV treatment so I at least know that it's working.
GIRLIE: Rifampin IV has proven hard to get a hold of where I'm currently at, but I will find out more next week as that's one abx I really want to try.
GFIELDS: I was taking different kinds of herbs and supplements, but not following an herbal lyme protocol. I only used a few anti-microbial herbs, one being oil of oregano (very powerful, has helped me alot). I will be following some of Buhner's protocols in addition to the IVs (also much cheaper than Cowden). The bart & babesia protocols, plus some of the herbs listed for Lyme (Cat's claw). I'm starting those in a few days.
I tend to really benefit from herbs so I think they will help me a lot! My wish/plan is to take the edge off with IVs and then transition over to only herbals. Wish I had just stuck with that plan from the start..!!
Yes, my LLMD said he'd put me on IV when I said orals weren't helping and I was over it. I recommend you talk to your LLMD and let him know what you want to try or do if something's not working. If it feels right then pursue it. Remember you're the one paying for this and you're the one responsible for treatment. I hope your LLMD welcomes your input and ideas as well!!
I have no answer for you. I think it's nearly impossible to be cured of Lyme and remove all spirochetes. You need to get it down to a managable level for your body and immune system to handle, and from there you have to make sure your body gets everything it needs to do its job for the rest of your life (diet, physical & emotional health, maintence work: parasite cleansing, anti-microbial herbs, immune-supporting herbs, etc)++.
