Hi, we just found a bullseye rash on my husband. He is on humira for crohn's and I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for crohn's-friendly and Lyme-effective abx? It seems doxy can lead to c diff, but we want to knock out the Lyme, as it's a new infection and frankly he has enough chronic stuff to deal with; not wanting to add chronic Lyme to the mix if at all avoidable.

when u have major gut issues, i think herbs are best. i get lyme treatment in a german clinic, i showed my colonoscopy to them (diagnostic UC) and they have not even sugested abx. herbs all the way...

my UC is gone now. imagine that. Bartonella related probably...

Agree that herbs would be the way I would go. There are many lyme protocols using herbs, Buhner, Cowden and White.

In case you wanted to know which one I choose it is Buhner. But I think there are just as many on the others.

Just google Buhner healing lyme.

Thank you. Is there such a thing as an llgi? I'm nervous about communication between at least one clueless-about-Lyme doc about treatment. His gi will not be comfortable with herbs, I'm sure.

I'm treating my own chronic lyme herbally, so we have that knowledge/experience on our side. That's one thing going for us.

Yes, there are a few Lyme-literate (or Lyme-friendly) GI docs.

Keep in mind Crohn's may be caused or made worse by Lyme....

There is a lot of evidence that mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis (MAP) is involved with Crohn's but medicine can't figure out if it is the cause or side effect. Macrolides like biaxin work very well against MAP as well as Lyme, or if you decide to go herbal look for herbs that are good at killing mycobacterium.
