Babesia treatment

I have Duncani which is known to be more resistant and difficult to get rid of. I've been under treatment since late February and first came down with symptoms late Sept 2014.

I started with Zithro/Mepron but it didn't do much after 3 months so switched to Cefdinir/Tinidazole which helped. After a few months went back on Zithro but with Malarone and I had side effects of Malarone plus symptoms were coming back stronger so switched back to Mepron. Doing much better.

If I had to guess when I first started treating the Lyme was more prominent so the Zithro/Mepron wasn't as effective. Once I took the Cefdinir/Tinidazole for a few months I believe it knocked the Lyme out and now I'm back to dealing with Babesia but the same regimen of Zithro/Mepron is having more effect.

These diseases are tricky they play off each other hence why it's akin to peeling an onion you have to draw it down layer by layer.

I've also tried Coartem a few times it helped the first time not so much after. Also tried a few rounds of Alinia helped a bit the first time not so much after.

Still in treatment and nowhere near beating the Babs.

Doesn't really matter what strain you have as you are treated the same regardless.

Everyone is different on whether Malarone or Mepron is more effective. Malarone is definitely cheaper so many go that route first. I believe the proguanil in Malrone gave me diarrhea and recurring stomach aches hence why I stopped it and went back to Malarone (Atovaquone generic).

You might also want to look into adding an herb or two as they don't interfere with any abx treatment. My LLMD has had good success with Cryptolepis and Byron White's A-BAB. Cryptolepis is cheaper might be worth adding that to the regimen and see if you react. Woodland Essence and Sage Woman both sell it.

I'm starting to wonder if I have babesia as well. I have all the symptoms, air hunger, tinnitus, ect. Maybe will ask my LLMD if I can take on some Mepron.

I've been on Buhner's babesia protocol (sida acuta, alchornea and cryptolepis) for over a year now. My LLND added artemisia to that back in June. It definitely is working, since I definitely babesia herx after the artemisia. I take 1 full dropper of the Buhner babesia herbs twice a day and 1 artemisia capsule 3 days a week.

I don't know what strain of babesia I have, but its got to be a nasty one since its taking all these herbs to treat it. I can't get past more than that dose of artemesia, since the herxing gets out of control. I still get pretty nasty herxes from the artemisia, but not as bad as the day I tried to up it to 2 capsules a day.

I've had babesia for a really, really long time so its had a while to move in and make itself at home. I think Buhner is saying that's what he's found works for most people. He talks about the traditional uses of these herbs in his book, and they all sound fairly safe taken at high doses for long periods of time. Artemisia needs to be pulsed for best effect. My LLND has had patients on it for years pulsed 3 days on 4 days off without issues.

I have duncaii. In remission on Quest blood test after full blown case.

My LLMD did short pulses of HIGH HIGH dose arteminsin then stopped. You can read my other posts how it was done. Very difficult to get through but worked so well.
