Bringing back an old thread....
I'm interested in making beef bone broth in an attempt to heal what I think is leaky gut, which leads to my being allergic to darn near everything... especially the supplements I need to take to kill the lyme.
I went to my local meat locker today and asked for beef bones and told them what I intended to do with them. Apparently, I wasn't specific enough because what I ended up with (or maybe all they had in stock this week) was something marked "beef bone soup". When I got it home and
opened it, it contained a 6 inch diameter hunk of beef, about
an inch and a half thick, with a 1 inch diameter bone with the marrow in the center. *sigh* What I "wanted" was about
2 lbs of just those 1 inch in diameter bones... without the three inches of meat around the outside.
So, now I have the whole thing cooking down in a crock pot and intend to feed the meat to the family after I've striped it off the bone, then I'll begin cooking down that one single stupid little 1 inch diameter bone and attempt to make a wee bit of bone broth out of it.
How does one convey to their local butcher the literal mental image of 2 lbs of what they would consider to be "scrap bones"....?
And to those of you've who've tried beef bone broth, did it help your leaky guy and / or lyme issues in any way ??? I'm really grasping at straws here because I'm running out of things to try while my health continues to fade.
