Post Nasal Drip and Deviated Septum

I have both a deviated septum and extreme post nasal drip. This has been going on for about six years. I just assumed that my seasonal allergies had gotten much worse. But, I was tested last year and do not have any environmental allergies.

In January of this year I was herxing constantly, ( too aggressive in increasing A-L drops). My wife drove me to the LLND for an emergency appointment ( I was unable to drive). My Doc called her husband in to consult with her. While she was taking my pulse she noticed a bright red rash on my arm. She showed it to him and he asked me if I had ever been exposed to mold. My former place of business had been in a 250 year old barn with a wet granite cellar. They had me take the Real Time Labs urine test and it came out very positive.

The reason I was herxing so badly is that I was not just attacking the Lyme with the meds abut also the mold which is also a bacteria that releases toxins as they die off. You may want to check on being tested for mold. Many people are infected but show no symptoms unless their immune system is compromised as is certainly the case with me and I assume you.

Hmmm.....

Mold, candida and yeast are in the fungas family, not a bacteria at all.

So, one might kill it from general detox herbs, but not bacteria specific herbs.

Antibiotics go after bacteria, not fungas. If it did go after fungases, non of us on abx would get candida.

Candida can also create post nazel drip.

I would think A dr blaming PND on a mechanical issue - deviated septum, would be like blaming a leaky tire on a alighnment problem, similar area, but not related.

Right before my lyme diagnosis I had my septum fixed. I also had the extra tissue in my throught removed. Best thing I ever did. Used to have pnd but in reality think it was really reflux. No pnd no choking at night anymore since surgery. Not sure if lyme treatment also helped.

Sorry Astroman, I misspoke (typed). Of course you are correct that molds are a fungus not bacteria. But the route to healing is quite similar as I understand it. Having a mold infection just adds to the time of healing for the Lyme.

The deviated septum certainly doesn't help; I have one.

However, if you do saline rinses with 3-5 drops of either goldenseal or cryptolepsis (added to the warm water), it really makes a dent in post nasal drip.

MOLD is a big issue!! I kinda wish I could move to a drier climate the way some of our members have done.
