Slightly odd question

Hello all,
This evening I asked my sister if I could use her blood sugar tester (she is diabetic) just to see if my sugar levels are all normal. But then about an hour later she forgot that I had used it and she used the same needle to test her blood sugar. Question is, should we be concerned that it could have been transmitted ?
Apologies if it's a dumb question! Hopefully it is!

floza - I don't it's known for sure - it is suspected it can be transmitted via blood. Having said that, there isn't anything that can be done now...except be aware if your sister gets symptoms...and have her tested a.s.a.p if that happens.
...and try not to feel bad - it was one of those things that happens sometimes.


One thing I have instructed my husband to do (he tests sugars regularly, and I do once in a while) right from the start - is to remove the 'needle' right after testing and dispose of it.
often when I go to use the tester, there is a needle in it, and i dispose it. My husband says he sometimes puts a clean one in so it's ready when he needs to use it - and there was no need for me to discard it. I told him to 'get with the program' - as I don't want to guess if it's a clean or dirty one.

Thank you so much for all the kind advice. I was also thinking it may be unlikely the bacteria would survive on the needle tip for over an hour. But it's so scary the thought that I could pass this awful ailment to my sister. But will certainly be on the lookout for symptoms. Thanks all x
