Left arm goes numb when laying down

Lately, when I lay down, my left arm and hand goes numb almost immediatly.

Does anyone have the same thing happening?

Not my limbs...but my left cheek/jaw area used to do that - it's better now...never did figure out why - only when I laid down.

yup this used to happen to me ALL of the time when I was sick. Especially at night. I would wake up and my entire arm and hand would be numb. It went away as I continued treatment.

Mine immediately started when I first got sick. Every night a new body part would go numb. So for me it was not related to treatment. The other day I rested my arms on a chair and they both tingled and went numb. So I think it has to so with pressure (pressure of laying on bed) and possibly circulation. I had my fibrinogen checked and it was 296 (range 193-507). This was to check for thick blood which was another possible cause.

It was a Neuro issue for me, and one I still have. I still sleep with a pillow between my arms every night or I wake up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain and not being able to move because although in a lot of pain, my arms are asleep. I think mine is connected to the vertebrae in my neck though, as in a pinched nerve possibly.

I had this symptom for a while. Funny, sometimes you don't remember some of the symptoms until someone brings it up. My arm/hand would go numb while sleeping and sometimes while eating breakfast. Always thought it was neuro.

this numbness occurred in two different positions for me - laying down, and always when I was on the phone! If I was on the phone too long (more than 10 minutes), the arm holding up the phone would slowly get numb. If it was a circulation issue for me, I would still have the problem, and I no longer do.

So I do believe Traveler is on to something here - it may be a pinched nerve, or just a damaged or irritated nerve. When we sleep, the nerves may be compressed by our weight in some form or another, more so than usual for us because of the effects of lyme.

you know when you "hit your funny bone" - in reality, when you bang your elbow the wrong way, the nerves that are exposed get compressed and the same result occurs - numbness/tingling. This is what I think it is related to when it comes to lyme, and not circulation (for most of us, not all!!)

as mr mike said - we are not doctors. I tried to figure out the "mechanism" as to how lyme affected me in certain ways. Eventually I stopped doing that because as I slowly healed, the symptoms slowly went away.

I had this problem, plus my nerve running down the inside of my leg that I had knee surgery on. They did some nerve flossing on it and it helped it. I think the nerves are especially sensitive with lyme and can get entrapped in stiff fascia (which is stiff because the lymphs are working over time trying to get all the stuff out}.

My friend who is a PT said it's ulnar nerve irritation (too much computer or texting). She recommended ulnar nerve glides. They have helped a lot.

My grandmother had this problem most of her life--she would actually wake up in the middle of the night and shake her arms to make it go away. She was a farmer and most likely, was bit at some point. But she is over 90 now, so there is not much point to start treatment, which may put her over the edge. She ate organic and lived in the country with almost no pollution, which is not the case with us. She is doing ok for a 90 year old, so I think we don't have to worry about it too much, but continue treatment as best as we can.

It is funny actually, I remember as a kid, I liked to sleep with my grandparents and my grandma would shake the bed when trying to "shake the numbness out" of her arms. THis motion of the bed would wake up my grandpa who would scream "earthquick!" and try to run outside LOL I was always getting a laugh out of it LOL Still laughing when I think about it!

I've had the 'deep sleep' in my limbs for many years. I wake up with a sleeping limb and it will take forever to wake up.

This is different though. I lay down on my back, arm totally free. 2-3 seconds later, my entire arm goes numb. Different numb cause I can still feel it when I touch that arm with my other hand.

I have other neuro symptoms too. Sometimes one side f my face or torso goes numb for a day. But the numb to the touch. Lots of strange feelings like the raindrop or running water feeling on my skin. Black outs too, my eyes and eyelids doing strange things, etc.

And the position of my back slightly changed because of those 2 factured vertebrae from last year. That was lowest thoracal and first lumbar, much lower, but it will probably change everything. It's strange though that it would take so long to occur. The fractures happened 16 months ago.

I took many different abx, but no Cipro. I only took one other fluoroquinolone, Ofloxacine, but only for a few weeks.

Numbness was one of my first symptoms after the tick bite - I had a sensation of fluid retention in my lower legs that I now realize was probably numbness.

I herxed with all kinds of numbness when on abx including my entire leg going numb....at night in bed, sometimes when I was walking. Same deal with my hands going numb. And, the left half of my face or mouth would sometimes go numb.

Buhner's supportive herbs/mushrooms really helped....Japanese Knotweed, Baikal Skullcap, Lion's Mane, Kudzu and Stephania (especially for the Bells Palsy/facial stuff).

The only numbness I was dealing with since switching to Buhner would be a herx with weakness on the left side of my mouth. After only 4 months, even that isn't too often these days.

I bet you would find that in this listing of different seizures, but you are describing one of the types that I used to have due to toxin overload. Please do be careful!!!
