Can Anyone tell me if this sounds like a Lyme rash? **Need help posting pic**

Hi There

I was bit by something, which my husband and I thought was a spider bite like 8 months ago. It started with 5 little bites and has been very itchy since. It seems to almost clear up and then flares up again. I have scratched it to the point of bleeding, then I let it clear up but then just when i think its going away it flares up again. Almost like little itchy welts. Ive seen 2 dr's and they say it looks like a reaction to a bite of some sort. They prescribed a steroid cream which I did not use because i'm not really keen on those sorts of treatments. I took pictures along the way but can't figure out to post them here. It's recently been brought to my attention about the possibility of Lyme. I do not recall being bit by a tick and I just woke up one day with these 5 little bites. about 5 months after the bite I was tested for Lyme but it came back negative. I know that tests in Canada are not very good, so Im not convinced that I shouldn't be concerned. Anyone have a rash like that? or could this be just a bad reaction to a spider bite?

Sorry for the reason you're here. I know that the "Lyme rash" can sometimes be aytypical and it can definitely come and go.

Are you dealing any other issues/symptoms?

no other symptoms really. I get headaches sometimes but I think that could be related to a tooth I had extracted not too long ago. Do you know how I can post pictures?

Good to hear you're not really dealing with much by way of symptoms.

I'm really sorry but I have no idea how to post a picture. I changed the title of your thread to include a request for help with that. I did not edit your post in any way - the default forum note about my editing occurred because I changed the title.

I wonder if that works. The first picture is right around when the bites happened.

Hi Costa,

I had the same type of rash sans the bite/bitemark. Even though I declared that no ticks or other animal bites were found anywhere on my body, the doctor thought it's an animal bite and prescribed me an immunosuppresive cream. A bit stronger than you can get without prescription. What do you know, it has gotten worse. The doc observed it and as it progressed, the bullseye pattern became obvious after a few weeks. The doc decided to prescribe doxycycline, 200mg a day in two 100mg doses for 20 days, and a blood test. The test came back positive for 3 out of 4 strains of Lyme causing borrelia bacteria (common in Europe, in NA you have a bit different strains I think). Started the abx - got herx, it got a bit worse overall, a few more patches of these rashes appeared, though, much smaller. I am not off abx as I finished the cycle, yet I suspect I still have the disease. Plus I started getting sore soles in the morning...

Also, take care as you can trasmit the disease to your husband and vice versa via sexual contact.

Thanks midmid for your reply. Did you just have one bite mark>? or a few? and what was the time line of all that? how long after the bite did you get tested?
