girlie - this is what i was discussing with him - is it too early to retest? I am still trying to understand this part. if he just got bitten and lets say was positive in sept, he would still be positive whether he treated or not right?
I hope Girlie provides her input.....and I think she won't mind me sharing mine ;)
My research continually points to the uselessness of these tests. Once a person tests positive for Lyme, future testing tells us NOTHING about
their current state of affairs.
It all has to do with the disruptions to immune function caused by the infections themselves.
The mechanisms of that disruption are very hard to describe and quite extensive. Much of it is in medicalese.
Buhner explains all of that stuff in his books. And I've read it in other Lyme books as well. It's just that my Buhner reading constitutes the last 5 books I've read ;)
Anyway.....
Because we can't rely on the current tests, these infections need to be diagnosed clinically....even the CDC says that on their website:
"Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks. Laboratory testing is helpful if used correctly and performed with validated methods."
www.cdc.gov/lyme/The situation sucks - sorry but, it's true.
