SWFL Lyme people

Hi, Just joined. I moved to Naples from New England 2 yrs ago and looking to compare notes with locals on treatment down here. I feel this is pretty much enemy territory as finding well educated Lyme drs. Even though lyme is here. A friend born and raised here just got the classic bullseye after doing yard work last week. The ID dr they saw was shocked to find a case here in Naples stating "this is the first case here in SWFl". What is wrong with these drs! The ignorance is ridiculous. Anyway if you live in the area would love to connect and start a support network to compare treatment etc… I found a MD that seems very educated and interested in Lyme. Right now working on calming my brain as I also have neuro lyme. Then the plan is to start pulse antibiotics along with some of Cowdens therapy along with Horowitz's treatment. I like the thinking here. A combination to hit it hard. I have babesia as well. I did try the mepron but it inflamed my brain so much that i had to stop 5 days into tx. This was with the New England MD who i just had to "fire". It nearly killed me! I agree I prob need Mepron but there has to be a safer approach which the new MD is planning to start. Anyway I'm optimistic for the first time in a couple years! I recently had to go on short term disibility because of my symptoms. Any advice or tx that worked for you would be great to hear!!!

Thank you! Its been a debilitating battle as all of you can relate. I have walked out of local drs offices being told its possibly syphilis among many other things. Even when I have shown them the results of my positive Western Blot. The best is the MRI that showed a lacunar infarct that they said is caused only from high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol. I have none of these. The heat down here is killing me. I hide inside until after 5pm. Anyway i know this is blah blah blah as we all have our own crazy stories! Im just hoping to start or join a local support group :)

I too am in Naples- I too need treatment for Chronic Lyme- even though I didn't get it here - I LIVE HERE and need help.
