Been seeing Dr.S in Howell for over a year. Not sure if said Dr. is the one for me. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For information on finding a​n ILADS trained​ LLMD in your area, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.


​You can send me an email by clicking on my screen name or the small blue envelope under my screen name. I may have contact information for some LLMD's in your area as well.​ ​Please include your state (or province) and area that you would like to find a LLMD in and I will be happy to share the names I have.​

Hi seventhson I also see Dr s in Howell I am trying to sick with him because he takes my insurance but he does not talk much I can not stand that, may I ask why you want to switch?

Hi catch scooter. They don't take my insurance, but mostly the not talking thing. I'm frustrated over that. I feel I have to lead him in any direction of conversation of the disease or treatment. I'm not the Dr. I'm looking for help, options, information anything. I feel like I'm doing all the work.

Hi seventhson I feel your frustration I feel the same way I want to shake him to talk but I have no choice because of my budget I do like that he returns phone calls very fast and will switch my meds if I can not tolerate them I do feel better than when I started in may he went slow with me because I am sensitive to meds he just added interphase plus for biofilms he also has me on bactrim,clindamycin and diflucan. But I am hoping he adds a cyst buster I tried plaquenil but I could not tolerate it so maybe flagyl or tindamax next.What does he have you on? Also on my own I am adding in japenese knotweed and eulethro don't know if I spelled that right also a homeopathic formula and just ordered menthylated b12, liposomal gluthione,milk thistle,buffered vitamin c and chlorephyll to my green Smoothies hopefully that will help me with my energy...

You can try Dr. Z or Dr. O in Shrewsbury or Dr. D in Marlboro.

Me email is enabled.

My son is with Dr. S for 20 months now.

He is quiet.

I bring my list of questions, he answers them all and explains why or why not we will do something. You just have to be kind and ask and be persistent.

He is careful I think so he does not get sued and lose his practice as many have in the past.

He cares very much for his patients, even came in for us after his son in law's funeral that morning!

He has been doing this a very long time and sees what works and what does not work, and just keeps trying.

He also has cost in mind for his patients. His fees are most reasonable as is his protocol

I discussed all this with Dr. B (very famous psychiatrist) the other evening at our appt. He cited cases for me of famous, impressive drs. where they struggled and/or gave up on patients. Everyone is different and it is hard to get the right thing (protocol or med) that hits it and fixes them.

That being said, he got my neighbor and her two teens well, too them 1 year, 18 months and 2 years, but they all got there.

He goes very slow and asks for patience so as not to overwhelm his patient.

I will be staying with him, we see him tomorrow and I am preparing my list of questions.

It is a personal thing, if you feel you need to leave, there are options - there is also dr E in Jackson if you prefer to stay in that area.

I have been on the site for quite awhile, many know me well and our nightmare story. I would not advise anything I do not truly believe in, and I have done EXTENSIVE research and reading myself, desperate to get my son well.

PS - He does not take our insurance,but he did take my neighbor's.

I have been with Dr. S since June 2015 - after 4 months of being sick with mystery illess involving stiff neck, muscle wasting and severe weight loss, and seeing 10 other specialists, I was finally dx with Lyme, candida and co-infections.

I find that he is very quiet - I do have to pull answers from him - but any time I call the office someone gets back to me right away - often times, the dr himself. I get frustrated, but I know this is not something that will resolve easily - and I have to be patient. He always tells me that the protocol is based on MY symptoms, and that I will get better, but it takes time.

Maybe it would be helpful to post tips on how to make his appointments more "successful" ? I try to go in with list of symptoms and questions, all typed out, but I find after about 3 questions i've lost his interest, and he is rushing to do the exam (to boot me out the door). I am usually seen between 5 - 10 minutes - that part kills me... I do wish he would spend a little more time with his patients - I usually feel rushed, skip the "important" questions, then have a little melt down in front of the nurses because I forgot to ask him something - i've sometimes waited for him to finish with his next patient, and grabbed him in between to ask.

If I think about my health prior to seeing him, there is not a HUGE change - but - I have gained some weight back (gained 8 pounds of the 50 pounds I lost, I am pretty under-weight still) and I have gained some muscles back that I had lost. I am a lot "better" than I was, so he is doing something right - and for that reason, I choose to stick with him, rather than jump to another doctor, who might equally frustrate me.

I feel that he can be successful at treating me, if I can just find a better way to 'manage' the appointments.

I am staying with him for now mostly because a lot of doctors charge an arm and a leg for the first appointment (more than him) and i honestly don't feel like going through it again. And he honestly does try but he's so hard-headed sometimes that he doesn't listen to your complaints or suggestions.

Hi there, I realize this is an old post, but I am seeing this doc (Dr. S) for the first time on Friday and would like to know how the initial visit will go. If anyone can provide info on the process, specifics, for a first time visit (first LLMD) that would be great. I am not looking for anyone to bash him and/or his personality, I've already seen plenty of that. Thanks!
