Did Lyme Disease Originate on Plum Island?

Hey All -

This was probably posted somewhere on these forums at some point, but I thought I'd share anyway. I live on Long Island, not far from Plum Island (I'm currently on the South Fork but grew up on the North Fork). There is a strong belief out here that Lyme came from the Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Right around the time when the first major cases popped up in New Lyme (which is located directly above Plum Island by the way), tick-related research was being done there. The theory is, one, or some, of the ticks escaped, hopped on a bird or deer (which swim across the Sound), and then the epidemic began. As a local, I've always heard odd things about Plum Island through the years.

What do you all think? Half-baked conspiracy theory or the possible cause of our current epidemic of Lyme?

Bad things certainly came from plum but I'm w/ Cocoon on this one. I don't think lyme originated there.

The main issue with power outages is things thaw out and die, not thaw out and crawl away. :) When our freezers go out we all freak because it is years of work that could all be trashed if it heats up.

I've heard that scientists there were experimenting with germ warfare, and they didn't realize that the deer on the island were swimming back to the mainland with the infected ticks. Apparently, the experimentation started fairly soon after WWII, I think.

My ex-bf, who is one those high IQ persons; very very smart, but also very logical, and who has a mind like an encyclopedia, seems to think it's entirely possible. He is not the kind to believe strange conspiracy theories.

But then I read an article by Burrascano tracing the long history of Lyme Disease, so now I'm confused.

The really weird thing about this theory is that the Americans were collaborating with the Germans (post war!!), because the Germans had such advanced war-time technology. It's true that our government did collaborate with the Germans; just look up, "Operation Paperclip."

But whether or not they were manipulating ticks or germs in some weird fashion will probably remain unknown, especially if these theories continue to appear in supermarket tabloids.

Some people say that the reason Lyme is so controversial, is because our government wants to hide what happened from the public.

Stranger things have happened, and Lyme Disease and its coinfections are very strange. Perhaps Lyme already existed, but in a simpler form?

Also of interest, is that our government experimented with Syphillis on Black men, who then actually contracted the disease. Is there a link?

I used to think that HAD to be one of those silly conspiracy theories, but now it seems that things are getting so bizarre and surreal, with Lyme, coinfections, controversy (not to mention other diseases, like C. Diff.), that I think it's entirely possible.

I do think Lyme probably existed before Plum Island, and perhaps it did "mutate."

It does sound like a crazy movie, and generally, I think disaster movies are rather stupid (sorry, Mystery), but when I turned on the TV the morning of 9/11, I thought that surely I was on the wrong channel, until I realized that all the channels were covering footage of 9/11.

Modern times are very strange. I've said this before, but I wonder if we won't be hit not only by global warming, rising sea levels, desertification, etc., but also by epidemics and pandemics?

Oh Gosh, I can't believe I'm writing this; now I do sound like a conspiracy theorist.

There was another thread on here about this that surfaced within the past couple months.

One user provided the thought that, while something like this may have existed long, long ago, that it's not impossible for someone with the right tools and know-how to have used it as a placeholder for something more.

In other words, to have taken it from nature, then expanded upon it, thus turning it into a weapon.

I like that theory the most. It makes the most sense to me.

I mean, those German fellows back in the 40's were playing aroun these things back then, right? Human experiments, biological weapons, and more. These are things that are documented.

That was what, 60 odd years ago? Imagine what could have been done in the 70's, when the Lyme as we know it started popping up. That's a good couple decades of advancements.

Honestly, it leads me to the thought that, in my opinion, the government's technological abilities are far beyond what we have even more than the slightest of knowledge of.

Basically, I feel like we're only exposed to the tip of the iceberg.

That said, I don't even care to think about what they're capable of these days, not that I can do much of that thinking stuff anyway.

The world is slowly falling to ruin anyway, as I see it. A better tomorrow is not something that we're capable of seeing.

Now, individually, yeah, if you're lucky. Little, divided groups of people? Maybe. But, collectively - global scale, no. Humanity cannot sustain itself. We're smart, but dumb at the same time. Not quite animals, but not quite beyond them either.

Dr, Klinghardt has said the that lyme found in the states near Plum Island is the worst type. It is worse than the European type or other western states. I heard they were experimenting with taking lyme and another infection. - pairing different types of combinations of two different infections.

Their denial is related to liabilities. Therefore lyme does not exist.

My family is from Bridgeport ct and I have only visited but I have several types of Lyme,babesia,bartonella,brucella,mycoplasma,ehrlichia. The people behind this need to set up a compensation fund

I have written extensively about this in various threads here.

I have been studying the links between Lyme and biowarfare for many years. The biowarfare issue is the MAIN reason for the denial (corporate corruption from industries like insurance and biotech/pharma are additional reasons).

In fact, rather than see the biowarfare issue as something we can "do nothing about", I would say, if we do not expose this issue, then we can do nothing about the denial and will have to accept it forever.

He is not a "conspiracy theorist", but a very respected investigative journalist and in fact the first reporter to expose the fact that Plum Island, far from being a civilian lab just concerned with farm animals, was a major component of the US biowarfare effort.

Plum Island did open-air tick trials and a wealth of hard evidence proves that they were fantastically negligent about biocontainment.

ps User "mpost", Ive alreadyr eplied to that point eldewhere on this forum - finding a microbe in ancient bodies does not in any way invalidate its staus as a biowarfare organism. Plague and anthrax have been around since antiquity. No one doubts that they are biowarfare organisms.

The fact that there are a lot of toxins in our food these days is a completely separate issue. It in no way negates the fact that Lyme is a biowarfare issue, or that Borrelia has been studied as a bioweapon since at least the WW2 period.

I have no evidence to show, and have NEVER claimed, that Borrelia escaped Plum Island as a result of a deliberate malicious action by anyone. But accidents due to extreme negligence, or the incredibly stupid practice of doing open-air tests with live pathogens, can cause everything up to and including Armageddon.

We know that Plum Island did open-air tick dispersal tests because that has been documented by eyewitnesses who worked there.

The biological warfare scientists are protected by absolute secrecy and as a result have no accountability to anyone. Despite living in so-called "democracies", we have no knowledge, control, or influence over what they do. Neither do we get to decide who are going to be the unfortunate "collateral damage" when things go disastrously wrong.

We are just expected to mind our own business and "have faith" that the biowarfaremen are acting responsibly, ethically and with the highest standards of biocontainment.

Would you trust a depraved biowarfare scientist like Dr Ed McSweegan with your child's safety. user "mpost"?
