Has anyone experienced intense itching? I had it before i started treatment just not as bad. Could this be a herx? I have also been getting random itchy bumps that look like mosquito bites and tiny pin point size scabs. I thought maybe the scabs were from scratching but they are showing up in places that dont itch. Im being treated for lyme bart and babs.I am detoxing and have taken benedryl which doesnt help.

I have experienced the extreme itching all over my body. I scratched so much that I thought I had fleas! I also noticed small red water blisters. Those itched the worse. This started when I started oral antibiotics.

I was diagnosed with overgrowth of Candida before I started oral antibiotics for Lyme and co-infections. Once I started taking all the antibiotics,my Candida flared up more, I had the extremely itchy skin. I also started to get vaginal yeast infections.

So in my opinion, you might be allergic to something that you are taking for treatment, or you might have overgrowth of Candida.

When I told my LLMD about my extreme itching, she prescribed me Nystatin and Diflucan (Fluconazole). For my Candida.


I am now not as itchy as I used to be.

Kay, there was a point where my entire back was nothing but bumps and ITCHed galore. I bought a back scratchier. I envisioned those bugs trying to get out of me and my back was the only door. I dry brushed like crazy and I itched like crazy. I wondered who would win.

I got a loofa on a handle and that was awesome in the shower but I always thought I would rub my back raw.

As I got further and further into treatment the itchy back got less and less. But because it happened I still would find myself checking my back to see if "They're Back!"

I think when a lyme symptom appears it freaks us out. Then when it disappears it freaks us out. And then we await to see if it will return.

I hate this stuff!!!

Yes, I had a very intense itching experience that lasted at least 6 weeks. That was in September, I think. I had never experienced it before Lyme. It eventually went away. I was diagnosed later with systemic Candida when the symptoms of persistent coughing presented from October until now. No skin bumps during the itching spell, though.

Yes!! On my arms. It was maddening. I kept Benadryl spray by my bed. It helped for the most part. Every now and then it still happens.

Itching was the worst at the end of ABX- when toxic load was highest. Had systimic candida too - treated twice. Iching way less now , lowest in years and its winter right now!

I woke up the other day n my left foot itched so bad i pretty much put a carpet burn on it....

I too have the little red bumps that are popping up everywere but they dont itch for me.

I too itch when I stray from my restrictive diet
Are you guys noticing a difference when you eat sugary (non fruit) foods? I get these circular scabby things.

What test is best for diagnosing candida?

I have not notice food making a difference. But the sun will! And for some reason it's mostly my upper arms starting in my elbo crease.

Thanks for replies, i see my llmd in two weeks. Going to give benedryl spray a try. I do take fluconzole but only once a week.

It was the only thing that really helped. Sometimes I still had to be patient because I let it get so bad it didn't settle down right away. Also, the benydral gel did not work and either did hydrocotisone cream.

I hope you get relief. It's is really maddening. I was better on the IV right away and I am not convinced its candida. I too felt like there must be something in or under the skin I couldn't see. I too got bumps, but not every time.

Itching was one of my first symptoms along with panic and anxiety. It felt like bugs crawling all over me- stinging and biting. I still have it but it's not quite as severe. I started treatment about 2 months ago. For me it is a nerve thing because Benadryl or any antihistamine doesn't even touch it. It's called parethesia. And it has do do with your CNS.

Lots of past candida posts here. tons if you use the search - it only brings up stuff on HW too!

If your killing bacteria- then you most likely have candida. question is how much.

first step if you have lab coverage is use regular labs, quest, labcorp ect- they have candida albicans antibody tests that show past and present. candida albicans igg, iga, and igm. for past, recent past, and current exposure. do all three - should be covered under your ins.

even a regular dr can order these. they always say "i never herd of that". Well, its in their lab book, make them look it up, no excuse for not looking it up.

there are several specialy tests, but like always, you pay for these. some are under $100 though.

Very itchy with rashes and tiny itchy bumps. I get them a little all year round but it's 100x worse in the winter where it's daily and multiple. I also bought a back scratcher last winter but this year it's been about 90% my stomach and chest.

Personally I think it's Bart at least for me that's causing the rashes. I've seen the Bart streaks on my back and have tested negative for Candida.
