Strange eye issues

A few times now, I've woken in the morning and can only see out of one eye. The other eye is really dark, as though it's covered in limo tinting. I can see bright lights and some shapes from it, but it's sketchy. It's only ever one eye at a time and it goes away within 10 or so minutes of getting up and going. There is no pain associated with it and the eye looks fine when I check it out in the mirror. Does this sound familiar to any of you? I am very fortunate to have an eye doctor that is familiar with Lyme and I've gone to see her a few times for various eye issues (I thought I was loosing my eyesight from Lyme at one point and in actuality my prescription greatly IMPROVED due to the glutathione pushes I was receiving and my contacts at that point were much too strong for my eyes!). She is very happy with the condition of my eyes and saw nothing at all to be concerned about.

I find this symptom a bit puzzling and was wondering if anyone else had experienced something like it? It floats from eye to eye, but it's never both eyes at the same time.

Wow, that would be scary. I'm really glad you've already been thoroughly checked out by a good eye doc!

Do you have Bart? Bartonella can cause intraocular inflammation, which I believe can cause those types of issues. Do you take anything to help reduce inflammation?

Yes, bartonella is my main issue. Many symptoms from good old Bart, but this is one I haven't seen on the forum or in any of my research. It's a bit odd, I think, but it's kind of interesting to close one eye and then the other and flash back and forth between the two types of vision. I'm on tons of supplements and herbals and stopped abx about 6 months ago and have been doing pretty well. I guess not much freaks me out anymore and I just chalk it up to they Lyme and friends taking advantage of my system. Just curious if anyone else had experienced something similar. I couldn't tell you off hand what I'm taking for inflammation - I'm on so much, but I'm sure my doc has me on a good regimin...she's pretty thorough. It really is like someone limo tinted my eyeball! Seriously!

Hey jennysetter, what you've described has totally happened to me on numerous occasions!

It generally occurs at night when I've been using my iPhone in bed, with one eye open and the other closed against the pillow. After a while when I finally open the other eye, the vision is completely dimmed and obscured, while I can still see through the eye that remained open. It fades after about 10 minutes, but really bizarre to experience as it's happening! It's also come on even when I wasn't using my phone--just lying with one eye against the pillow for an extended period can precipitate it.

Though I'm not sure if what's happening to you is caused by the same thing (or really what causes it at all!) but I'd speculate it has something to do with uneven pupil dilation or increased pressure/lack of blood flow.

For what it's worth, I do have a lot of prominent Bartonella symptoms despite testing negative. I also wake up every morning with really blurry vision, see lots of floaters and peripheral flashing lights, and I'm considered legally blind without corrective lenses, but my eye doctor hasn't detected anything otherwise "abnormal" either.

I have been getting this on and off over the past year. I get it when I come in from outside if it's a bright day and my right eye gets dim cloudy like that last about 10min. Freaks me out that somthing may be going on with my eyesight.

Yes, I woke to this in both eyes about 7-8 yrs ago.

I though I was dreaming, and slapped myself to make sure.

Woke to 80% darkness, it slowly got better in two days.

Focus was normal (but dark) and had normal width of field, but daylight looked like sundown. I stood on my bed and stared at the ceiling light, then checked other lights and then my circuit breaker box.

The eye Dr just said since it was in both eyes, possible obstruction in the optical nerve before it splits into both eyes.

That was the period I thought death was near, many symptoms were like a runaway train.
