Yes, you can use a bucket or a dishwashing pan or something similar. If you have not used the Epsom Salt and peroxide soaks before, I would encourage you to start with keeping your feet in the water for no more than 10 minutes until you see how your body responds.
Yes, it's possible to take too much stuff to detox, but only when it makes you feel worse. That means that you are mobilizing too many toxins and your body can't get them out fast enough so they recirculate.
Unfortunately, many doctors have yet to understand how important detoxing is when you have these infections, but we sure do!! It's a way that helps us be able to have some control over our symptoms and to be able to continue on in treatments.
Sorry this next part is so long ~
I'll be changing my signature line today to reflect what's happening for me - but in a nut shell, when I got reinfected back on 8/2014 I was only showing symptoms of Lyme disease, but also had asymptomatic Bartonella and asymptomatic Babesia, so I've restarted treatments for those infections.
I originally healed completely (full remission) in 2012 - I had an amazing year after that - then my health went down again, not from these infections, but from severe adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism. You can read more of the details in this thread:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=2977364 Then I was reinfected in 2014 with what I now believe to be Lyme, Bart and Babs. I only treated for Lyme at the time because as I said, I wasn't showing symptoms for any other infection. I am starting with Lyme treatment simply because it contains a lot of the herbs that I use to treat Bartonella as well - plus, I do have some concerns about
a relapse with as much stress as I've been under lately with family stuff again, so I figured it wouldn't hurt.
To clarify, I did NOT use anything from 2012 when I first healed until I was reinfected in 2014. After treating in 2014 though, I started using astragalus as per Buhner's suggestions. I have had ticks attach after starting the astragalus and fully believe that had I not been using it, I would have had Lyme again because of the way my body responded to the bites.
I had treated with abx for 12 months without any benefits, then took a long while to detox my body, restarted treatment with herbs only for Lyme and used them for 12 months and was nearly symptom free at that point. After having been infected for a minimum of 40 yrs, I assumed that I would be left with some issues, so I didn't treat until 2 months past all symptom resolution, only until I got down to where I was having so few issues that they weren't hardly noticeable for me. It wasn't long before even those remaining symptoms that were so minor were no longer felt.
After being reinfected, I treated for 5 months, began to have some liver issues and chose to stop treatments as my normal means of clearing my liver weren't enough. I no longer had hardly any symptoms (a few nerve issues and occasional muscle spasms), so I wasn't really worried about
it - but as I said, I realize now that I also had asymptomatic Babesia and asymptomatic Bartonella.
