Testosterone and Lyme

How long have you had lyme disease...and are you currently treating? (if you're willing to share that)

Hi All, I have been lurking in the background for some time. Still reluctant to believe its lyme, but it makes so much sense.

My testosterone has been extremely low, not even on the charts for some time. I have been prescribed it in the past but never took it until now. I have been loosing a lot of weight and losing muscle and felt very weak. So started it about two weeks ago and have felt really bad for the last week or so. I thinks it is a die off but not sure.

All of my hormones are low and currently take dhea and have taken cortef for years.

Hi, Thanks for the warm welcome. Just got done reading the into sections. So much information. I seem to have had or experienced about 80% of the symptoms at one time or another over the last years.

I don't recall ever being bitten by a tick. I have been struggling with trying to get well for almost 30 years now and have been diagnosed with various ailments only not to get better. Recently I had a bunch of tests, one of them a wb from Mld labs and although it is not positive the medical consultant I talked with said it shows enough bands that he said along with that and my symptoms as well as low dhea, testosterone and some other markers, he would say that he is 90% sure it is lyme. I am still questionable, but I have such strange and moving symptoms that it makes sense.

Also recently doing lda shots for the lyme and the doc said I would not have a hexi reaction and would feel nothing if it was not lyme and boy did I feel it.

I just recently found a lyme literate natural doc and have an appointment in the near future. Should I request a more reliable test. Ingenue??

Are you F or M? I'm assuming by the name April, you're female. If so, females do need testosterone, but much lower levels than males.

I'm not sure if testosterone would cause a die off in lyme or not. If you suspect lyme, it's probably chronic lyme being that you've been sick for 30 years. You'll want to get on antibiotics or an herbal protocol like Cohens.

I'm not sure we herx when we're not treating, unless we do something that causes an increase in die-off of bacteria.

I have always had daily flares in symptoms though..but I never experienced a herx until I started treatment.

April - a LL Dr. should be diagnosing you clinically, testing shouldn't be necessary, but many LL Dr.'s do want testing done. I never saw a tick on me or had a bulls eye rash...and knew nothing about Lyme disease. I wanted the test done.
You can just get the WB IgM and IgG for $210 total.

Ginger, tribulus, and zinc can sometimes increase testosterone levels.

The Test has helped me not feel quite so week and tired. I am a massage therapist and I could really see it affecting me. I also have limited my diet because everything I eat seems to bother me and have lost a ton of weight. I am a female. Take the cortef because of adrenals. I feel it saved my life at one point and now am trying to slowly wean off. I have had hashimotos since I was 9 and the antibodies are still high.

Sorry I didn't post a introduction before I started posting, I will go back and do that.
