If you are trying to save money, I think it would be best to see a LLMD first. LLMD's will diagnose clinically - based upon symptoms.
That's even what the CDC advises:
www.cdc.gov/lyme/"Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks."
The same applies for Babesia and Bartonella.
Truly, there are more strains of Babesia, Bartonella and Lyme than tests available....and new strains are being discovered every few months.
These infections suppress the immune system so a test that measures antibody response (such as the Western Blot) could very well have false negative results.
Just because someone tests negative for any one of these infections does not mean they aren't infected. We keep coming back to the need for a clinical diagnosis.
The problem with mainstream doctors is that they don't have the education to recognize and treat these infections and that's why seeing a specialist in the form of a LLMD is really best.
Antibiotics are used to treat Lyme and Bartonella....and anti-malarials are used to treat Babesia. This applies to both pharma and herbal treatments.
Best of luck to you in your quest for answers!!!
