Long awaited diagnosis

Hi All, I had my first appointment with an LLND. She confirmed that I have lyme disease with Bartonella and Babesia. Even though my test results are not cdc but I do have some positive bands and several other tests that support this. She said that I also have some other infections in my gut along with yeast and some methylation problems. She seemed very up to date on all of it, as far as I know. She wants to clean up the gut first and work on my detox issues before moving into further treatment. She wants to proceed very slowly. She spent 3 hours with me after rescheduling my appointment from yesterday to today because I could not make it on time because of a storm. I feel very positive that she can help me.

Problem is I am very upset about the diagnosis. Although I am happy to finally have a diagnosis, after suffering and trying to get well for the last 20 years. I didn't want it to be lyme. Not sure why I feel so upset about this diagnosis. I am also upset that no one ever checked me for lyme and I have suffered so long and have spent tons of money just trying to get well and all along it came down to this. I know I have other issues, but I think the lyme is probably the basis of all or most of it.

I am glad that you have found a good LLND. Wow - three hours!
It's good she wants to proceed slowly considering you've had this for 20 years.


Interesting that you're upset about the diagnosis. I was actually happy - as I was googling so many horrible things...that I was happy it was treatable.


I totally understand why you're upset that you have suffered all these years and wasted money chasing a diagnosis.
It's just not right...

Please keep us updated on how things go with your treatment.

So happy to hear that you found such a promising LLND! Her plan sounds excellent and I wish you the best moving forward.

These infections stir up all kinds of emotions in us and, sure, it's understandable to feel angry about all the years lost to suffering without a diagnosis/proper treatment.

Now you have a diagnosis....and you're on the path to healing. Things will fall into place and we'll be here to help you whenever you have questions or need to vent.

Onward and upward!!

Congratulations, Fear!! That's wonderful news with the plans your doctor has for your healing! Sounds like a wonderful doctor. Your doctor and the other mods are so correct - you will need to move very slowly through treatment, but the fact that your doc understands how important detoxing properly is, you will have an easier time - not an easy time, but easier.

I can completely understand how and why you are so upset after 20 years with these infections - I went 40 years. I felt like my whole life was wasted - but then I started taking stock of my life, not of the things I missed out on, but the things I still managed to do: raise kids as a single parent, home schooled them as well, helped many people through many situations and survived the whole thing.

Then I started on this forum - that opened up a whole new world for me. I had to learn how to heal differently than anyone else because not only had I had these infections for quite a bit longer than most here, I couldn't use the only way known to heal back then (abx). I started sharing those things that I learned both during my time without treatment and how to deal with the symptoms, and then what I learned from my research for my own healing. It suddenly gave me a "validation" of some type that my life was never wasted, it was just better timing for me to do more. It's been an amazing time in my life - meeting people from all over the world and being able to be a part of their support team.

If you ever wish to talk to someone else that has spent so much time involved with these infections, please feel free to email me. For now, worry about only your health and getting it back on track, then you can use your knowledge and understanding to help others if you so desire. It's a great feeling. :-)

Thanks to all of you. I do have a new sense of hope today. I am so grateful for this site. Not that I wish this on anybody, but it gives me comfort to know that I am not alone in this. I mean I have my families support, but sometimes they just don't understand, nor do I want to burden them with it all. Traveler, How in the world did you do it as a single parent? I help take care of my two granddaughter because my daughter is a single parent and it wipes me out!

Fear I was also very upset when I found out I have Lyme. I am sick for so long time, suffering a lot and in constant pain, and at the moment when I found out what is actually wrong with me, I was desperate. So I understand you. But look you found a great doctor who will be able to help you, it is very important.
There are also stories of people who healed completely, I don't know links, somebody who knows can share it here, so you can read positive stories.

I understand how you feel...I STILL havnt actually received an 'official' Lyme diagnosis, and I first started getting noticeable symptoms in 2004! In 2010, My MD said, "No Lyme disease=Igenix was cdc negative".

My 2nd Dr, an LLND, never gave me a 'Lyme' diagnosis, but treated me for multiple bacterial infections using only herbs. That particular dr. Mostly focused on my heavy metals detox.

Ive been seeing a new Nd since December who cannot make up her mind how to title or name my illness. So Im back on herbal antibiotics.

My sister got diagnosed in 2008. Shes an RN and a Lyme coach now. She insisted, for YEARS that I see a Lyme literate doc, which I FINALLY did in 2014, and I was mad but relieved to finally find a Dr that would dig deep, and not go by lab work alone. Unfortunelty that Dr. Retired...

Anyhoo, Its so awesome that youve got a good Dr.. ..starting w/the methylation first is in my opinion, ideal. Itll make the treatment for the bacterial infections go easier. I wish I started on the methylation FIRST, because Im just now addressing that!
