Do Canadian doctors recognize the Igenex test?

My mother is suspicious of having lyme disease. She has been tested once in Canada (came back negative).

She has not developed arthrtis, fibromyalgia, headaches, sleepiness etc etc etc.

Need help

Hi stephinch - welcome to our community!

You mentioned symptoms she doesn't have - would you be willing to share the symptoms she does have that prompted her to test?

Lyme literate Dr.'s here n Canada accept Igenex tests...but not many non- Lyme literate Docs do.

I am a Canadian - living in BC.

I can help you find your mother a LL Dr. You have options - depending on where you live.
BC seems to be the best Province for treatment, but there are options no matter what Province you're from.

I tested negative with the Canadian two tiered test. The IFA was negative so the Western Blot wasn't done.

I did the Igenex Western Blot for Lyme after and I was Igenex positive.
It costs $210 US$ - It's the WB IgM and IgG.
You can order the test kit and take the lab req to any Dr. to sign...then to a lab for the blood draw.

Hey, thanks for the quick response! My mom aslo has brain swelling, sleep apnea, memory loss.

Her doctor has now prescribed uppers to keep her awake during the day.

She tells me that she feels like she's dying!

My brother and I have ordered a test. Waiting for it to come through the mail.

We are located in Ontario/Quebec

Sorry to hear about your mom.

you can also contact ILANDS directly and they will give you a list of Lyme Literate doctors that are in your area if possible and as close to you as they can be (if not in your area)
