Has anyone experienced lint-like particles on your pillow or clothing? My head feels extremely itchy and I have a tender scalp. Is this a lyme coinfection? Any ideas as to what this might be? Is it fungus? Dead hair?

Hi avuncularsam -
Do you have flakey-like soap or skin? My vote is yeast/fungal overgrowth! Do you have any other y/f type symptoms? Are you taking abx w/out an anti fungal?

Hi avuncularsam -welcome to our community!
i'm sorry, but I don't know what that could be...but what Pirouette has posted sounds plausible to me.
Do you have...or think you might have Lyme Disease?

Thank you so much for the welcome and feedback!
I do have dry/flaky skin. My symptoms started about a year ago - ribcage soreness/pain, sensation that something was burrowing into my hips, back, etc with noticeable bruising in that area, track marks on skin, fatigue, malaise, dizziness. I also have acute sinusitis since the onset of these symptoms. I also noticed parasites in my stool despite stool tests being negative. Frequent episodes of high BP (145+), rapid arrhythmic heart rate. Got several blood tests done - my CRP is through the roof. Finally got capsule endoscopy done - about a week ago - noticed roundworms, several strange white objects, and what looks like a tapeworm. My gastro is very incompetent and didn't really follow up. Anyway, my joint pain has increased - especially in the hips, my head is itching really badly and I am noticing these lint particles on my pillow and clothing. I also noticed that whenever I apply coconut oil on my arms, I see these small black specks. Not sure what's happening - whether intestinal parasites are causing these symptoms or whether it's a combination of parasites and lyme bacteria. Not sure what to do, whom to see... :(

Could you describe the track marks on your skin? Do they look like scratches?
The reason I ask, is one of the co-infections of Lyme is Bartonella - and it can show on the skin as 'scratches'..or stretch marks.
Also, rib pain is another symptom.
You may have a few things going on...the parasites for one. Have you thought about doing a parasite cleanse?
You can pick one up at a health food store.
Also, as Pirouette mentioned...you could have a fungal/yeast overgrowth.
You could also have an Igenex Lyme Western Blot test done for $210. It is the best test to get to find out if you have Lyme disease. There are a lot of false negatives...even if it's negative, there may be some positive 'bands' that would still indicate lyme disease. You can order the test from Igenex Lab in California. Then you just need a Dr. to sign the lab req., get a blood draw...and send it off to Igenex via Fedex.
...Or...you could seek out a LLMD (Lyme Literate Dr.) for an evaluation...and wait to do the testing then.
There's a lot of knowledge and experience on here...hope you stick with us...and we can collectively help you sort this out.

I first noticed scratch marks back in 2012 - these looked like either a cat or someone with sharp fingernails just ran their paw/hand across my back or arms. I would be sitting and then all of a sudden would feel a sharp burn only to see these weird marks. I assumed that it must be spiders or dust mites. Anyway, my health was generally OK except for allergies to pollen/mold.
Fast forward to end of 2014 - I was emotionally drained because of work and family issues, overworked, and not paying much attention to my diet. Anyway, I remember taking a break to garden and also visited an apple orchard. Soon after I felt this intense pain in my abdomen. That same night, I ate a steak. I noticed that the steak had something white embedded in it but I ate it anyway. Next few days I was feeling extremely bloated, but was still healthy-ish. Soon after, I visited this Korean grocery store for groceries, when an elderly Asian lady shopper sneezed right on me. This was the straw that finally broke the camel's back. I returned home in intense pain. My entire body was inflamed, ribs hurt like hell, and I couldn't move a muscle. My heartrate and BP shot up. I have never been "normal" since that day.
I made several dietary and lifestyle changes. Lost weight. Eliminated many toxic elements from my life, but every other day there is some new issue - if it's not fatigue and dizzyness, it's the joint pain. And now since the past week, my head has been itching like crazy. Also, note that I have OCD - I am extremely clean and tidy.
I did try herbal parasite cleanses - Garlic, Pumpkin seeds, Wormwood, Cloves, Black Walnut Hull, Oil of Oregano, etc. This do seem to alleviate the symptoms, but not eliminate the issue.
I did get three run of the mill lyme tests done and tested negative. I did hear about Igenix. Perhaps I should run that by my doctor. Thank you so much for the suggestion.
Would you have any suggestions for Lyme docs in the SoCal area?
Thank you so much for your time! :)

Those scratch marks do sound like Bartonella.
Your PCP may not agree to sign the lab req for Igenex. But - you can get any Dr. - a chiropractor, a Naturopathic Dr....or a Dr. at a walk-in clinic.
The best bang for you buck would be the Lyme Western Blot IgM and IgG for $210.
