What is a good brand of milk thistle? And how much should I take daily?

I don't take it but wanted to caution anyone that has an allergy to daisies, artichokes, common thistle, and kiwi to be cautious when taking. Those are in the same family so if you are allergic to one of those you could be allergic to milk thistle.
I had a horrible reaction when I got the weed thistle on my arm so I don't take milk thistle.
But this caution will bump your post for better answers.

How would I know if I'm allergic? I don't think I am...
Do you take anything to help the liver? I was looking through the detox suggestions and this was one. I figured it would be easy to add.

I like Gaia - also has organic version. I think it's $13 for 2oz - found at most health food stores.
Faith -
Burdock Root is another good liver helper. I take both together - brought my liver enzymes down in a day or two. Very effective.

Agree about
Gaia...excellent herbs, according to a nutritionist I know who spent 2 years studying supplements, many of which are not what they say they are.

I love Gaia herbs also.
For liver support I do turmeric. I also eat an artichoke numerous times a week while they are in season. And I love lemon water.
I am a huge fan of the vegetable artichoke though and wish it was in season all year. I do not dip the leaves in butter. I love a cold artichoke just plain and when I make artichokes I always make a few for the next days. Sometimes I will eat a hot one with vegenaise or roasted garlic vegenaise dipping sauce.
Now I'm hungry.
