Yes, I think we should all be scared.

But -
I just watched a fascinating PBS series that helps put this in perspective ---I highly recommend it ---Mercy Street. It's based on real events during the civil war in Union-occupied Alexandria, Virginia. The storyline involves various characters who live and work in a make-shift hospital (that used to be a posh hotel owned by a wealthy southern family) and the "medical staff" (you'll see why I use quotes) who care for the rebel and union soldiers and other casualties of a raw war and civil unrest. It's fascinating and I really can't believe anyone made it out of the 1800s alive. Most who had a medical emergency didn't.

But I say that puts this news headline into perspective... because it's the 21st century and we've gone backwards. In so many ways. Now I'm tired and need a nap.

I'm sorry that I had to edit out the rest of your post, Sweetpeaisme, but overly religious posts are not allowed. This forum is not dedicated to any one religion, but is open to all, no matter what religion they ascribe to, or none at all. And we actually have a rule about this:

6. No posts of copyrighted material, lengthy articles, or posts of an overtly political or religious nature(ie. proselyting).

We welcome everyone of every religious affiliation, or none if they so choose, as that's not our main focus. Our main focus is on Lyme disease and we don't want to offend someone that doesn't agree with one person's interpretation of any religion.

Im sorry but my post wasnt any way at all overtly religious...ITS WHO I AM, and I cannot leave out my faith out of my Disease, its connected...its who I am.

Its actually discrimmination against me and who I am...

Religion is not an just an opinion, but a practice. No one is allowed to practice their religion here.

Each and every one of us that joined this forum agreed to abide by these rules. No one is singling you out.

No one is allowed to post "overly religious" posts anywhere on this forum. If you wish to continue on here, you must abide by all the rules, just like everyone else here. This is NOT discrimination since it applies to everyone that joins this forum.

And if you seriously felt it was discrimination, then why did you join after reading that?

And, I did not make the rules. I am only here to enforce them. That's actually the first "duty" of a mod on this forum - to enforce the rules. If we don't like it, we can't be Mods.

If you wish to write to the Admin of this site and talk this over with him, I encourage you to do so.

This doesn't surprise me, given our personal experiences (fails and problems in both mainstream and alternative medicines).
We also had an extremely stressful and beyond negative experience for a hospital stay, as well. It was very traumatic. I was upset about it for many, many years. I said that I would rather drive a thousand miles than ever go back to that hospital again. (I realize that this may be irrational, but I was that traumatized from it.) Having said that, that traumatic hospital experience inspired an inner strength to go against the "norm" in seeking health, and only after that, we started to improve.

Im sorry to hear about your bad hospital experience...I can certainly relate. Even my last hospital visit, I was treated poorly because Im sure they seen my "history" of so many visits due to lyme over the past few years, the doctor was pretty rude to me. I will never go back to that hospital again.

Its just horrible how we are treated because of lack of understanding for what people with lyme & co go through....
They dont know how TOUGH we really are going through all this crap. *sigh*
