I read a very long article written by Scott Forsgren, the 'better health guy'- the article is based upon Dr. KLINGHARDTS findings that links this disorder with Lyme patients who arent getting better...its called KPU aka HPU. 4 out of 5 of his Lyme patients tested positive HIGH for this substance in the urine.

The substance found in urine called HPL binds to zinc, biotin, manganese, arachidonic acid, vitamin B6, and other compounds. It effects the heme synthesis, which is the distribution and/or usage of these vital minerals and compounds for multiple systems. For example, a biotin deficiency results in muscle pain, and zince deficiency weakens the immune.; however some people dont absorb zinc due to an absence of stomach acids.

It basically results in the inability to detox: the immune system without zinc is like an army without bullets...

Anyway, its a 24 hr urine collection test at a cost of $90 plus shipping. You have to cease all vitamins, minerals, and antidepressants for 48hrs before collecting the urine. Im hoping that treatment for this will get my body detoxing efficiently. I want the toxins OUT!!!

^^^Here is a video I watched partial of a couple weeks ago when researching about KPU(the video is very long). As Sweetpeaisme post is stating...this can be a very important piece to the puzzle apparently according to Dr K. The good thing is that it is pretty easily treated (as compared to most things 'lyme' I guess I will dare to say "easily treated" that is)

I do not believe you should avoid animal protein, just limit its intake. My reason for this (besides the fact that it greatly improved my health) is because it changes the flora in your GI tract.

I have never studied pastured cows collagen protein so I don't want to comment on that. I do feel that we eat too much nitrogen which is main component of many amino acids (and caffeine). Some proteins have less nitrogen than others so they would have more affect in reducing Bilophila concentration in the GI tract.

I have recommended eating animal protein once or twice a week depending on activity level. If someone is rigorously exercising, they will need to eat more protein to help in muscle regeneration. I based my recommendation from the amount of time it takes carnitine levels to be reduced, by how often paleo man ate animal protein, and most recently from this study which verified what I have been saying. We Lymies have serious nitrogen balance issues.
