costs of treatments

Okay everyone I made my appointment with my LLMD today, thanks to your suggestions.
However, it is sounding like it will easily costs thousands as the provider does not bill insurance.
Any suggestions on things people have done to cut or reduce costs?

i have thought about stretching my appointments from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. Often we are renewing a current prescription...anyway...and I can always be squeezed in for a quick 15 min. appt. if something come up.

So, in 6 months - instead of 6 appointments it would work out to 4 appointments. If your appointments are $300 - then that's a savings of $1200 in a year.

But, my LLND always gives me 5 or 6 weeks of abx...so i have some stock-piled..and wouldn't be out of meds.

I would just add that 1) I feel your pain and that 2) I was surprised to realize how many of my out-of-pocket costs for seeing my LLMD were at least partially reimbursable through my insurance company. Same goes for the labs I've had done through companies that don't bill insurance (like Igenex). You just need to get the provider to provide an itemized receipt with the right CPT and diagnostic codes. This is assuming you have some some form of health insurance that allows you to see out-of-network providers (a PPO). The out-of-network reimbursement rates are obviously lower than in-network but something is better than nothing.

Not that my insurance company has been particularly great about processing my claims. I basically have to get on the phone with them once a week to scream at them. And I do feel like the stress of dealing with them is an impediment to my recovery at times. But I can't afford to pay for treatment entirely out of pocket.
