There has been quite of bit of research going on to explore the next "antibacterial" frontier, since science and medicine have known about resistance for a long time, now. So, I'm fairly confident were entering a shift in infection control on a scale that is similar to the evolution of the first antibiotic.
While no one will argue that abx are abused and overused by some (the biggest, most harmful culprit is in livestock and other food sources). But let's not forget, antibiotics also save lives...
I'm not debating that the world is out of balance but I would bet that if we didn't have abx and everyone was using herbal protocols that over time, we'd also find resistance to some herbs--maybe not as quickly or as broadly, but some microbes are simply designed to mutate and survive.
I'll save my "let's ask the biowarfare lyme creators" rant...
